It looks like the window interior is plastic so possible cause for concern that it's touching the boiling water

"with auto shut-off".... Wow!

All electric kettles are with auto shuf off. That's not a feature per say

Yes, because there is less loss of energy to the surrounding since the heating element is enclosed.

Although not as fast as you'd get in most other countries due to the lower voltage we use. So, don't take Europeans' word on social media without caveats : )

I doubt it. I have a small percolator coffee pot that's about 30 yrs old. Only use it when the power is off.

With gas, you have instant 1000'f fire. Ele. will take longer to heat up.
Stop the cap!

Why this one over others around the same price? Is there one that's considered the "best" in this general price range?

Also the inner part of the lid. It doesn't make sense to have plastic inside and stainless steel outside.

What do u mean it does not auto shut off? What happens when it reaches boiling point? I dont think it is even allowed by regulators to make an electric kettle without auto shut off. They all shut off within seconds of reaching boiling point
I have this one that I got as a gift a couple years ago - has no auto-shutoff and just continues boiling and whistling at ear shattering decibels once it's reached boiling point. Was a shock on the first use. I'm not sure how it's legal, and looks like it's no longer for sale. https://www.walmart.com/ip/5969533

I have had this kettle since Oct 2018, have used it 2 or 3 times everyday since then. Has been absolutely flawless, highly recommended.
If I had to pick a negative, it is that the lid does not open more than 45 degrees, so kind of hard to clean.

For those worried about the plastic viewing window or who would generally prefer a glass kettle, the Amazon Basics glass kettles are also discounted. They both have plastic in the lid still, but contact time with the water would be limited to just during pouring. I have the 1.7L version and love it!

1.0L option is $19.99: https://a.co/d/gWI4A7E

1.7L option is $21.99: https://a.co/d/1Ehzil7
