Not only are the parks better, cleaner, friendlier, and more advanced, they're also much cheaper as of now. You could EASILY fly to Tokyo and spend 4 days there for less than a trip to WDW, no problem. Popcorn is around $2.50 USD. Tickets around $65 each. Stay at the Sheraton on the monorail line for cheap (and you can use Marriott Bonvoy points to do that for free). I've been twice in the past year and there is no comparison. The only downside is buying an extra suitcase, because you will be buying more gachapon and TDL souvenirs than you ever thought possible.
Plus you get the added benefit of the freshest sushi on Earth for $20 for a meal and get to visit the best city for tourists right now (although crowded, admittedly). Lastly, you could duck to Osaka to Universal Japan as well, which is another wonderful park. Or stay in Tokyo and see Sanrio Puroland for a Sanrio indoor theme park, which is so bad it's wonderful.
I would, however, avoid Tokyo Disney in June when they open Fantasy Springs, and it's too hot. TokyoDisney Sea will be a madhouse unless you just don't care about the new huge expansion.
You'll spend more at DL here because you'll need to purchase Genie+ if you want to ride more than 4 rides in a day. That adds another $120+ for a family of four, and that's the business model they're nickel and diming you with on this 'deal'.
Really, consider going to Tokyo instead of the US parks. Disneyland is pure trash and WDW is a beer-gut farm. I've had a Disneyland annual pass since 1990 (except when I worked at WDI), and this year I gave it up. Universal is eating their lunch.

If you're going to CA just for Disneyland, you'll probably save money overall if you book a trip to Japan instead. Everything in Japan is much cheaper, such as food, hotel, transport. Plus you get the benefit of traveling to one of the best tourist destinations vs shithole california

when this current cycle of high interest rates ends in the US and the JPY comes back down, the reality of pricing in Japan will hit.

- my hotel pricing comparison time window is fairly consistent, actually. I usually go either mid-Jan for Tokyo Auto Salon, mid-March on my way to other parts of Asia, or October.
- last few times I've transited in Haneda I've stayed at the Royal Park Hotel. between 2015 to 2018 the prices were always closer to $100/night for the basic room, now it is up to $150-170 range
- JR Rail Pass I've bought twice, for basic Shinkansen fares there is no surcharge, only when you want to take trains that have less stops. The point of comparison is this:
- in 2017 I used JR Rail Pass to go from Tokyo <-> Osaka/Kyoto for ¥25600 (this also included my Narita Express tickets as well as all the regular JR lines). I did not pay anything extra as I picked the train that did not have any surcharges.
- the same 7-day pass now is ¥50000
- as a point of comparison, the basic Shinkansen fare between Tokyo and Kyoto is ¥13000, so you'd need to take this 4x to cover the cost of the 7-day pass now.
- JR Rail Pass is good if you are doing multiple trips, not really useful otherwise.
Food is cheaper overall but I try not to overspend on that. I try to bring my own outside food/water, or I would also physically leave the park to eat in Downtown Disney or outside that area.Japanese food can also get real expensive real quick. I'm saying JR pass was never worth it. The time limit made it so you'd have to rush through everywhere to make up the cost. Tokyo to osaka might be 25600, but with JR pass, you were likely making a lot more smaller cheaper trips. You really had to waste a lot of your time traveling to make up the price.
If you live in CA and like Disney, it probably makes sense to visit a few times since you can just drive and park. However if you're considering driving a long distance, or flying, don't bother. You'll have a much better experience and save money overall by going to Japan

I completely forget about this... Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, even Indiana Jones was all Japanese dialogue.
its fun once in a while or just once, but after multiple visits the only way I'd go again is if it fit into my travel schedule that includes Japan.

Only downside is that you might miss out on a traditional social event taking place in SoCal Disneyland each summer where a pack of family moms fight it out in front of the children. You won't see that in Tokyo.
