Transferring data from an old IPHONE to new IPHONE, the "transfer directly from iphone" option, does it transfer downloaded podcasts?

You know that option to set up your new Iphone, where you put both old and new phones side by side, charge both up, have both on your WIFI, and both have bluetooth enabled?

So does this method transfer your downloaded podcasts that reside on your old iphone?

It's one thing if it ultimately on the new phone, you have to re-download your podcasts, but it's another if the podcasts no longer exist from the subcribed channel... you can't redownload it.

(it's like an app that is no longer in the apple store)...

My understanding is that it should transfer all local content when you use this method. Otherwise you just pull everything from your iCloud account.

Another alternative, can't you save your downloaded podcasts to your computer temporarily and then add them back to your new iPhone? Guessing not but I'd at least find out before I jumped. This is actually the reason I stopped using Apple phones long ago, they're too restrictive with regards to accessing the file system in my opinion. I understand why they do it but I prefer to have more access.

Hey THankyou ChinaRider.

I recently did the migration using apple's WIFI + Bluetooth method of phone to phone ... and all the apple podcast app data plus podcasts downloaded... were transferred over...thankgoodness..

back few years ago, on the new apple phone, the apple podcast app would have to re-download the podcast files.... but if the podcast isn't on the host any more, you can't DL it again

(it's like if you offload an app but the app isnt in the apple app store any more, then you can't download it again).
