If anyone grabs this up, audio is much better using a 3.5 mm cable. If you use it with Bluetooth make sure you download the app and switch it to movie mode. The default music mode setting sounds terrible in comparison. Overall I think these are great. I recommend trying these foam cups for a huge soundstage Improvement

"Velor Replacement Ear Pads for HyperX Cloud & Alpha, ATH M50X, Steelseries Arctis, Logitech G Pro & More Headphones, Soft Velour, Memory Foam & Long Lasting Earpads by Brainwavz" on Amazon
-They are a little loose but the sound is amazing!

(Your basically turning these into open-back headphones except they actually have bass and the most bass ever on top of that, this setup really deserves to be recognized by the headphone enthusiast community, if only the X2HR's had these haptic kickers in them, I've thought about buying a pair of each and attempting a Frankenstein build)

These cups with my LG G8's quad DAC and on board DTS X with side to side setting on, and you're in the sound experience that has never been done before

With EQ take a little off the 6000 KHz

-oh and if I'm travelling or exercising, I might throw the stock cups back on.

(forgive me, way off topic)

the ' LG G8 thinq ' can be had for $70 on Ebay the on board quad DAC combined with the onboard DTS-X side to side setting and EQ, has brought the best musical experience I've ever known next to a full Atmos DTS-X high end sound system. If anyone buys this phone, the best phone for audio ever imo, they will not regret it. This DTS-X 'side to side' setting cannot be found anywhere else, not even on PC and it's really unbelievable. this phone with these headphones for dyanmic sound, bass and portability, unmatched.

This phone with a pair of Philips X2HR's- the best 3d musical experience ever. The X2HR's are the only headphones that bring sound around the front of your face with forward and backward sound motions. It feels like the music's going on in your frontal lobe, as appose to in between your ears and to the sides and behind you. Even all of HIfiman's best headphone's as well as the HD 800 S from Sennheiser can't give you the same frontal sound. Rtings also reports this about the X2HR's. (I also do the velor replacements with these)

I prefer these 2 headphone setups over everything else on the market
Thank you for sharing your detailed insights! Your input is truly appreciated. Smilie

Too much! Definitely have to slide it down a bit. I also changed from music to movie mode as someone else suggested. Minor difference but I think it's a slight improvement as well (very slight).
that's good. i like the surround effect that the movie setting brings, sort of like surround, spacial type vibe. I have to try it once on an lg which has a built-in dac, also using the amp. The ifi hip dac takes it a step further due to having a bass boost. You have a music type equalizer on your device that's similar to dolby atmos?

glad you were able to try it out with the amp and see the difference. i don't really put the bass slider high...not even close to the middle. good balanced bass massage...how was it with the black eyed peas track?
Nice can't wait to get this bass massage!

What's the range like on these crushers?

Just got a pair of Backbeat pro 2's today that have long range Bluetooth and Apt-X. These headphones can be found cheap on fleabay for those on a budget, and would satisfy most bassheads. Of course using it wired into my amp gives the best clarity, but the Bluetooth is surprisingly good as well.

is the bass like a mid, or low type, does it get fairly loud? While it gives the best clarity , means no muddy bass? Did you get your Evos yet? I'm not sure of the ranger for the evos, esp. since mostly using them with the cable due to the bass difference, i can't go back. Can't wait til you hear them with your amp/wired.

The evo is arriving later today. The bass hits low on the backbeats. Good sub-bass, balanced sound, and gets plenty loud. No muddy bass. Of course i am using poweramp to autoeq it. Have you tried using the poweramp autoeq for the crusher? Do you have to use the skullcandy app or do they work well without it? I'd rather not use any EQ on the Skullcandy app. Can you turn off all the eq and effects on the crusher? I just want the sensory bass on and all other effects off.

Agreed. I use powerAmp for song files and Google Music for streaming and these headphones are amazing. I love the bass dial-in on the fly(and per song). for working out they are great as they don't move off your head as you are working out. I will never go back to earbuds again.

Yes. I have used the powerAmp EQ; but I don't use it with the Crusher Evo. I don't feel it is needed. The Crusher Evo gives excellent sound at its normal sound. I use poweramp because it is the best at monitoring the quality level and codec being used for the connection( and not re-encoding the music). I also love the visual music slider on the interface( it is like moving the sound wave as you seek within a song)(very smooth).

as for the skull candy app. you do not need to pair it with the app if you do not want to. The app is supposed to tailor the Evos to your specific hearing as it does a hearing test of tons of signals to see how you like sound. The app is good to pair with your crusher Evos for the first time to see if you like the " tailored" sound that skull candy has determined for you after testing your hearing.
But if you do not like the app you can turn off the tailored sound, use one of their pre-set sound settings, or unpair the crusher Evos from the app and just use direct connect cable or Bluetooth. So yes. you can use the headphones with a cable( with sensory bass on or off) or use Bluetooth ( sensory bass on). the bass leveler is the best to control how much bass you want in your song. and having it on the side of the headphones makes it great for adjustments on the fly.

Thanks for information. I think I might get one from ebay seller. Balanced, loud, no muddy... Sounds good to me.

I have never tried the app with the evos. For the most part I just use a tweeked eq preset on poweramp. I only used the app with crusher anc 2. Easier to manage the bass.

Thanks for the info! It's arriving any minute now and will try out your recommendations. Poweramp is great. The interface is smooth and clean, and it has plenty of useful features. I switched from neutron last year.

If you want to wait until I get the evos in an hour or so I'll let you know how they compare. The backbeats probably won't be able to touch them basswize. Compared to my other headphones though the bass hits good on the BB pro 2. You can see the review on rtings. The sub-bass is elevated, but they need to be boosted in the mid and high bass by 4-6db.

I heard the sensory bass on the ANC 2 is slightly better than the evos. A review on Reddit said that the Evo has slightly metallic sounding sensory bass. How would you compare them?

Wow! Yeah the BB pro 2 is very different to the evos. The BB pro 2 has a bit better detail and separation. The sensory bass is unique and more like a subwoofer. It feels like a massage on my lower ears and neck. With an amp the slider is only at a 1/4. With an eq they are very enjoyable. Thanks!

The evo has way more bass than the BB pro 2 when the slider gets around 1/4. It's like a subwoofer massaging your ears and neck.

Lol... It's good to see that you experienced that bass massage. Having a little bass chiropractor in the house comes in handy. Would you still get the bb pro 2 after hearing the evos?...

The corded, amped way is the best way to take advantage of what the evos are capable of...
