S24 series is scheduled to receive 7 years of OS / security updates. Google (Pixel) and Samsung made a lot of progress over the last several years in terms of expanding supportability of their devices.
Yikes! I cringed every time I was forced to do an update on my S22 as oftem the Samsung updates would break features. I could not imagine enduring that for longer than the 18 months I used my S22+ before switching to an iPhone out of frustration with Samsung junk.

What features were broken during your update Hell?
My S10 plus is still going strong. I keep looking at newer versions every time but I can never pull the trigger based on the costs and the things I lose upgrading vs gain.

I'm glad the FOMO wore off several tears ago.
Felt the same about my S20. Got damaged last week, got the S23 and been loving it
I just got an S20 Unlocked on Amazon for $180. I am done chasing the latest phones when the older models do the same things. So glad to be out of that phase.
Just wondering but why s20? I thought about getting the s20 until i realize the s20 is no longer getting updates.

The s22 series was especially bad. I upgraded from the s21 to s22 and it was a slap in the face. No way the s22 makes it a day. I went to pixel and while battery life was better good luck getting a signal. I dumped my pixel a have a s24u and let me tell you I will have this phone for years. So I would say if you are digging back the s21 or s21fe are preferred to the s22 line IMHO.
Is the signal problem for pixels a pretty common and widespread issue? Has it ever been fixed? Im looking for a new phone and the two i have my eyes on is the pixel 7 pro and s21 ultra. Couldn't decide which would be better.

I cant speak for the new 8a but I had the P7 and P8 on Verizon then AT&T and it was a greek tragedy. The P8 was only 2 months old, but I had to get rid of it. Pixel software great tho. Verizon was almost unusable at the fringe. Pixel uses Samsung modem (which is ironic as Verizon uses Samsung for a lot of its 5G RAN), and there is no getting around it Qualcomm makes the best radios.
S24u is a champ, better than mrs iphone 15 pro. I believe the s21u may be missing some of the newer mid-bands where fast 5g sits, so look for your specific carrier. I had s21 very good, skip the s22 if bands are covered.
Forgot to mention the P7P battery sucks, especially if you are off wifi. Wont make it a day.

Still rocking my s21 ultra and have no plans on upgrading unless it breaks.

You are often better off with a new midrange phone, like the galaxy a series than a used or refurbished phone.
- The battery is new instead of worn.
- You get a 1 year factory warranty, plus an extra year if you change it on a card with extended warranty benefits.
- You'll get security updates. As an example, your S20 stopped getting security updates two months ago. You'll never get android 14, and new apps that need it will not work on your phone.
- Midrange phones today are pretty good, and you can get them super cheap if you wait for a deal and switch wireless services.

I got a S23 FE for 250 NIB off Offerup and I can't sell it for 300 imao
It's also unlocked
android prices drop like a rock unfortunately.
But I like it more than my iphone but too cheap to go through the hassle of selling all my apple stuff even though the phone is caveman status
