Fyi blade doesn't lock in place. Probably a major deal breaker for many

In the past, I bought 2 statgear ausus slim knives thinking they were a great deal for D2 steel. I carried them on my left pocket interior. Over time, I noticed the poor ergonomics of the knife. Lots of stupid design decisions coming from this company. I realized that the quality of steel isn't everything.

But the worst thing - The design/shape of the knife, combined with their low opening force, made it so they easily opened inside my pocket. One day I reached in to grab my keys, and stabbed my hand good. Blood everywhere. Only knife I've ever used that did that.

Decided not to carry any more statgear knives after that. They're still in my glove compartment for emergency use - with some blue tape wrapped around them for safety.

Statgear are among the lowest rung. I can imagine the shoddy factory these are made in.

These are $5 knives sold for $10

I've been pretty happy with my SG Ausus slim knives.... D2 steel and G10.

There may be a place or two where you want to run some sand paper over it to smooth it.

I can't imagine trying to make a knife half as good for even 5x the price, so it's a deal for me.

Might be able to glue a tint neodymium magnet in it if you want more initial resistance to opening.

I had a completely different experience with the Ausus Slim. If anything I would want the handle to NOT be as smooth because the grip is way too slippery, no other knife has a complete lack of texture like this. The material may be fine but this knife just has poor execution even when not accounting for the thin blade. And I got it on a price mistake but had I known how it is actually I wouldn't have spent the few bucks that I did on it, there are just way too many knives that are better designed.

Pick up a Kershaw Skyline, that's the knife this is trying to copy. Awesome little flipper.

I love the ergonomics of the Asus and Samurai. Wouldnt know about the others but i can guess as much from the picture of this one....guess what, it looks cool. So that trumps ergonomics

Unless you are legally prevented by where you live from having a flipper or a knife with a thumb stud I would never recommend carrying this. I bought one last time it was on sale and it's still in the box. Can't stand having to use two hands to open and close a knife, and the lack of a lock.

The thing about knives is that they have been around for a really really long time. As such certain designs are not only proven but perfected. Unless you are a collector or you have some kind of special need, it is always best to go with those designs.

A quality knife from 1990 - 440c, liner lock, thumb stud, g10 scales - very hard to go wrong. Get it from a reputable company like Boker Germany, etc.

you'll never need to buy another for the rest of your life.
