Good price for a new model! The back-to-school sales should be coming next month, so it may make sense to wait for that (especially if you are interested in AppleCare).

The first iPad Pro (base model) debuted for $599. This year's base model costs $999. That's an MSRP increase of 67% in 9 years.

No other product in Apple's lineup has seen the same price inflation. iPhone prices have only gone up around 24% and Mac prices have only gone up around 14% in the same time period.
