I've got hose. I've got hose. In different area codes. In different area codes...

I own the mid-tier model of this hose reel, and it's prob the best out there for the price. The hose length rating is for a normal "thin" garden hose. So if you are using a commercial or thick garden hose, expect to get about 50%-60% of the capacity since they are much thicker. I would caution that if your connect has one of those metal spring spirals or four in thick plastic sleeve to prevent crinkling, that hose will not work. The connector would stick out and not reel in correctly. Watch a YT video on the assembly. It's very sturdy, and worth the money, but it's built for regular garden hoses without various anti-crinkle features. If you do get this, I recommend getting a few sets of quick releases... you put that on the water facets, hose connector to the faucet, it makes life a lot easier if you want to move to different locations. Same if you have different sprayer heads or connect to a pressure washer.

Just bought the 200' version a couple weeks ago for $10 more. The build quality of these is amazing

Two immediate reasons come to mind: 1) you may be moving the cart from front to back of house and connecting to the spigot there and 2) makes moving it for winter storage easier.

Me, I move mine in/out of storage every year.
Ah I see. We've always just bought an extra hose for the front and back. But never thought about the ease of moving it in an out for winter. But wait dont you just disconnect it from the spigot? Doesn't matter if the hose freezes if it's empty. Well there may be some water left over but plenty of room for ice expansion

I only have a 100ft hose so was gonna go for the 150ft one but the 150ft one didn't have wheels. So I looked at the 200ft one which costs $15 more but then the 225ft one with better design and usability was only $15 more than the 200ft one. Here I am, just checked out for the 225ft one even tho I only have a 100ft hose.
LOL I only have 50' hoses (the rubber Sears ones). This deal is making me want to buy new ones to the replace the crappy half-broken ones I got for free via Buy Nothing. I mean, they function but sometimes leak and what not. It would be nice just to have something that will last forever but if I get any of these, I'll then have to convince myself to get longer hoses!

Practically, I'm wondering how long of a hose I'll really need. Right now the 50' hose we have isn't going to reach around the side of the house to rinse out the AC condenser unit so maybe I do need to grab one of these and a longer hose.

What do you guys think? 200 or 225? Is the extra 25' really going to be useful in *most* situations or circumstances? 200' already seems like plenty

I got the 150 ft when it was on sale for not much less than this just before Christmas. I won't ever have a hose 200 ft or longer, but it would be nice to have the feeder this one has on the front.

The only thing I don't like about it is the piece you screw onto your spigot is hard, at last for me, to get a good grasp on, those I can't get it tight enough to not leak. They really need to redesign that.

I thought about leaving it out, but didn't want to risk things getting damaged if I was wrong about expanding ice. My back would certainly be happier if you're right. Big Grin

The 225 has the accessory tray on the bottom plus a guide for keeping the hose neat as you reel it back up. I don't need the extra 25', but those seem like nice features.

Yup. I initially ordered the 200' than realize it didn't include the hose guide + the tray is a bonus. I cancelled and ordered the 225' version.

Is the bit of hose that attaches to the valve 1/2" or 3/4"? I've been trying to find a cart that doesn't restrict water flow to my 3/4" hose foreverrrrr

EDIT: looks like the leader hose is 5/8, but the nozzle it connects to seems very restrictive? Is that just the angle of the picture?
I'm wondering the same thing, looks restrictive

This has been on sale at Amazon and Walmart for over a week now. I was debating on which one to get (200 or 225) and read though all the reveiws and even watched you tube on the reels. Some say on the 225 the tray pops up and you have to move the hose feed guide by hand while reeling up to spred hose even on the reel. (but the bottom tray looks so convenient) Also both say the handle is low. I'm leaning towards the 200.

I have a similar reel from Ames [lowes.com] and it's held up fairly well for the last 3-4 years. I haven't had to replace any parts on it yet, which is a welcomed change from the shitty plastic hose reels I'd had before. True to its name, it has not rusted anywhere or leaked.Having said that, my biggest gripe about it is the plastic connector parts. The frame is thin wall aluminum going directly into what I presume is some sort of glass fiber-reinforced ABS/polycarbonate plastic with either self-tapping screws or rivets. I use mine lightly, usually bringing it out in the spring and bringing indoors in the fall. Despite only being outside for half the year, and being in direct sunlight for a few hours a day, all of the black plastic has frosted over and look sun damaged. Because of the super thin aluminum and the plastic, while rolling it across the yard, you can feel it twisting with the weight of the hose.

To be fair, I don't have this specific Gorilla model, but I figured I'd chime in simply because the construction appears nearly identical between the two reels. I do like the added part on the front that lets you guide the hose on without making your hands filthy. All things being equal, I think I'd rather have the Gorilla version.

As others have pointed out, you're probably not getting 200' on here unless it's very thin hose. I use 100' of hose similar to this [amazon.com] on my advertised 200' reel, and I *might* be able to squeeze another 50' on there but it would be coming off the sides.

Hose is not included. This is just for the reel.

The size each advertises is just the potential hose capacity.
