300 equivalent means it puts out as much light as 300 watt incandescent. All of our light bulb ratings were based off of incandescent, and we can't seem to let it go. It only draws 40 watts of power, and therefore can only produce 40 watts of heat. Any socket that can handle a 40 watt incandescent bulb can handle this.
And I thought I am getting a ceiling fan for $7
FWIW, from their listing has Home Depot: Max. Operating Temperature (F)113 °F
Now, is that just a CYA note from their lawyers rather than a hard limit....probably. I'd guess, though, that anything that stays in plastic-melting temps is going to have a shorter lifespan unless you get some sort of specialty high-temp bulb, which is likely to be way more than $7 Wink

Does anyone know what the operating temperature is for these (ambient temp)? My attic gets crazy hot in the summer, enough to melt candles and cheap plastic, and it might not make sense to put this up there if it won't last in that heat.

I'd say that the amount of time you spend in your attic with the light turned on, especially when it's 113F, has a lot of bearing on the economics of solving this problem, along with the amount of light output you want permanently installed in the attic vs. being portable.

I have the bigger 4 blade version of this light I gave to my uncle and he used it in his garage to great effect. It had wonderful light spread and with the adjustable wings you can direct the light to shine off the ceiling if you want so it's not blinding to anyone looking in the general direction of the light socket like you get with the cheap 5000-6500K 3 light section garage lights that are everywhere now.

I've also had really good experience with Feit electric products in general so I'd recommend this to anyone who wants more light out of a single socket light fixture.

For something a little different in design (and not really on sale but reasonably priced) is the 4 ft folding e26 socket light that Id prefer as it won't cast as harsh of a shadow on stuff in a room like a more singular source light fixture will: Feit Electric LED Light Panel, 4 Ft. Foldable, 40 Watts, 4000 Lumens, E26 Medium Base, 5000K Daylight, 120V, 80 CRI, 22 Years Lifetime, Frosted Bulb, Damp Rated, ADJ5000/48/5K/LED https://a.co/d/eMoxLOv

300W equivalent?

Is this safe to install in a regular joe e26 socket? Worried if it'll burn the internals.

I got one of these for the garage. Works well. Very bright and you can angle the light in different ways to avoid glare.
