NOW Internet just launched* – https://www.xfinity.com/now/internet sorry for the confusion, it's not fixed wireless 5G. You need to be in their grid.

Choose between 100 Mbps for $30 a month, or 200 Mbps for $45 a month. Unlimited data and an Xfinity gateway included. https://9to5mac.com/2024/05/09/co...ile-plans/

*Expanded to all markets but not showing available here yet. Just putting it up for discussion. Never thought I'd be posting Comcast but my experience with VZW Home 5G has gone sour. Sorry for the confusion, some articles make it sound like 5G HOME Fixed Wireless Gateway

If you need internet at home, NOW Internet could be a solid option. Comcast says that what sets NOW apart from other 5G home internet plans is that it relies on Comcast's existing cable network. That often means more reliable speeds and a smoother connection overall. Plus, you get unlimited data and a setup-ready gateway included.
Good Deal?

Can't figure out how to switch my current Comcast plan to this online. Anyone successfully switch to this yet?
From what I was told by support you have to fully cancel your Xfinity service first and only then can you order NOW.

I suggest looking into calyx institute. They are a nonprofit for internet privacy, and one of the perks of donating they provide is a t-mobile hotspot with unlimited data:
https://calyxinstitute.org/membership/internet

Note that part of the donation is tax deductible. Additionally, the device with the highest tier is actually meant to be used as a residential modem, because it has a mode where the battery is ignored.

Finally, unlike tmobile home internet, this is truly a hotspot solution, and it is not against the TOS to use it on the go.
Interesting, thanks for the tip on calyxinstitute . I was looking at their memberships and equipment and It looks like there are far more positive experiences with the JEXtream® RG2100 5G Mobile Hotspot than the MiFi X Pro 5G. Is their any experience here with either than can chime in?

That would help many people but sadly in my summer deep woods only only Verizon cell phones work. So I am guessing that if Tmobile phones can't connect, the modem cannot connect either.

It's cable internet. It's not hybrid. The WiFi 5 router is referring to the WiFi protocol as these use an XB3 for a modem.
thanks, I updated post to reflect that...

To clear up my confusion about this product. Can this be used with a desktop, or is it wireless only?
it shouldn't matter, my 5G Home wireless has two ethernet out ports out of the 5G modem. It's surprised me how well it worked here out in the sticks. My only other option was pokey DSL maxed out at 80Mbps so VZW fixed me up with ACP and Forward program but we had a falling out, dropping my discounts a month before ACP ended. I doubt Comcast is much better but the 5G is something else, even in a solar storm!

I wish Comcrap just died. I am stuck permanently with their crappy cable internet. And their monopoly means even living in the richest part of the world, I have 0 alternative (no I don't live in the middle of nowhere). They are now re-packaging their 1950s investment one more time and selling. Who want 11Mbps upload speed in 2024 on their highest 200Mbps "prepaid" plan?

I am paying tons for the max speed tier they offer in my area (1200Mbps download) and I am still stuck with 35Mbps upload.
If you're not in the middle of nowhere then sign for T-Mobile 5g service with some promo offer ($200 gift card, etc). Cancel your comcrap service. Keep T-Mobile for three months or four months or even longer if you like it. But by then you'll be eligible for comcraps promo prices, etc and you'll be at least saving decent amount of money or what you pay now. These guys just don't value existing long time customers. I went from $110 for 300Mbps with 1tb data cap and 25mbps upload to $35 for 200Mbps both and up and down with no data cap and Xfinity WiFi gateway with wifi6e.

That's a naive way of thinking. Sorry if I offend you. As I mentioned, I live in one of the richest part of the country. If Comcrap monopoly cease to exist, there would be plenty. Given very few people care of exploring for alternatives, fiber providers have less incentive on top of Comcrap monopoly. If people are forced to explore for alternatives, lots of providers will lay out fiber overnight, and yes I mean it, overnight!! (as fast as possible infrastructure wise, but city officials would also have incentive to fast track it)
You didn't offend me. I said a fact. If you currently only have 1 provider available, and they died like you want them too, you'd have 0. And no, not a single massive corporation gives a shit about a few dozen/hundreds of customers. Get a clue room iq.
Oh, I want to add, I have 3, which is far above the average, and still get shit customer service. And I pay for service in multiple houses. So yeh, you're clueless.

Edit, more likely The WiFi 5 router is referring to the WiFi protocol as these use an XB3 for a modem. NOW Internet and NOW Mobile. Both products – backed by the powerful Xfinity network and the most reliable 5G – are available nationwide where Comcast offers service, and consumers can easily sign up, pause or cancel their subscription online, via the Xfinity app, or by visiting an Xfinity Store. With all-in monthly pricing, no contracts, or credit check required, NOW products deliver flexible connectivity to customers when they need it.

I may have to retract that, Still getting the 5G home comparison in recent news. https://www.phonearena.com/news/c...e_id158168

guess I won't know for sure unless I sign up but it won't let me,.. not at this address and I don't have cable. NOW also offers unlimited data, a free Wi-Fi 5 modem, and installation. Symmetrical or near-symmetrical download and upload speeds ??? sounds more like cable.

either you house doesnt have it cover or you dont check your mails lately. once its available in your area. they would flood you with direct mails every other week until they get at least 40% signup. or they cant cover their cost.

Too true. I was getting stuff in the mail every few days. It went straight into the recycle bin. All that junkmail kind of soured me on the company. I don't know how long between mailers at this point. Seeing the hoops I'd have to jump through to get a decent price from Comcast, and knowing the price would secretly rise a couple dollars a month again, Quantum is starting to look better.

Hi, I don't use them so you'll have to do your own research. I've noticed that many questions are answered on the calyx subreddit [reddit.com]. A friend of mine said that $348 was tax deductible. Keep in mind the difference between tax deductible and a tax credit.
