You got lucky. I ordered six of these 12TB drives and two were DOA. They were quickly replaced though, so goharddrive provided good service.
Put refurbished in title…

Edit: Thanks
I've had really good luck with Go hard drive. I would only buy one of these used Enterprise drives from either go hard drives or server parts deals. Out of five drives, none of them have been bad yet. And both of these companies package the drives very well. To me. theres a big difference between these two companies and buying used hard drives in general off of eBay. I've had some horrible experiences buying 4tb used Enterprise drives, over 50% have been junk. But I trust these and the warranty that helps mitigate the risk.

I use this mini computer for one of my PLEX servers. I have two externally powered usb 3.0 8port hubs plugged into it with sixteen 2tb SSDs/M2 drives. Seems to run 4k well.

KAMRUI Mini PC,Intel i5-12450H, Mini Desktop Computer 8C/12T,16GB DDR, 512GB M.2 NVME SSD (Up to 2TB), 4K UHD,Triple Display Output, WiFi6,BT5.20,Beat i7 11390H,for Home Office https://a.co/d/2gEey0u

I also use a macmini with a similar drive setup. But I added in two western digital 16Tb red drives ( I kinda wonder if I should have used purple or gold drives, though..)

Good luck on your build!
I have a 4 bay microserver. If I had 5 drives what do you recommend to get the 5th drive connected? Some sort of external enclosure? Ive been out of the game for a while.

I need at least six of these but having a spare seventh on hand would be ideal. Limit 5 Frown

I thought my drive was DOA too. Then I figured out that with this drive you must either use the supplied power cable or cover the first three power connectors as shown in the video.

Can anyone comment on why this deal is more popular than the Seagate Exos deal? https://slickdeals.net/f/17498109-refurbished-16tb-seagate-exos-x20-enterprise-3-5-7-2k-rpm-sata-hard-drive-130-free-shipping?v=1&src=SiteSearch
It really shouldn't be. The Seagate drives have a max of ~2 years PoH and likely less (X20 release date was Q1 2022), whereas these HGST drives are advertised as having 5+. That, and they're 16TB instead of 12TB. Well worth paying the extra $1/TB.

Seagate does have a worse reputation for reliability though, and Backblaze data generally shows their higher failure rates.

I'm more interested in this 12TB deal because the price per TB is quite a bit better on the 12TB drive.

If you need a bigger drive the 16TB should be a good choice, but it seems like the 14TB and 12TB drives often give better price per TB.

I emailed them and they had me a pre-paid label ready in less than an hr. Couldn't ask for better service.
