Two larger-than-life heroes, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu are brought together by the hand of fate, or perhaps something more sinister… Live it up in Japan and explore all that Hawaii has to offer in an RPG adventure so big it spans the Pacific.
if you canceled every company that did one single bad thing, you would never buy anything ever again. No company is perfect. This is a good video game
You know you really need to find some new material. Same tired joke over and over.
I am 50+ hours into this game and it's one I look forward to having the alone time to play whenever I can. I can say I'm addicted, I got it a bit cheaper off Amazon recently.. paid $32 after applying coupon. But that's negligible, would absolutely pay $35.
It's a very fun jRPG by Sega. My only complaint is that it's *very* dialogue heavy. I do find myself skipping a lot of the dialogue and cut scenes because of this. But that's easy to do and a minor annoyance. It's not even that the dialogue is bad. The voice talent is great and the cut scenes are great - there's just SO MANY of them that if you don't skip some of it, it's gonna take you 3x as long to progress on the game and my play time is kinda limited.
Definitely one to have in your collection if you like RPGs. The adult elements are fun!

The only Yakuza I finished was Zero. It was good but there are too many of these games that it feels overwhelming to try and catch up.
The only game you really need to play before this one is Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which is Yakuza 7. It has a brand new story and new characters, so you don't need to play 1-6. There is a smaller in-between game before this, but it's not completely necessary. It's called Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The developers of this series made things confusing when they decided to change the series name from "Yakuza" to "Like a Dragon." These games are way better than the older Yakuza games.

I'm not cancelling the company 😄 The game is basically cancelled for me unless I find a good secondhand deal but that doesn't mean that Im cancelling Sega. They made a poor choice, caught flack for it, and hopefully they'll make a better choice the next time. I don't doubt that the game is good as I've heard tons of good things about it but the action Sega took in charging for NG+ is one that I won't support.
Solid, solid game. I've played through every mainline - and most non-main - games in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series and this is a good one. Took everything that worked in part 7 and made it better.
$35 for this is an absolute steal. I played and beat the game in 70+ hours and didn't even finish everything there was to do in the game.

Worth playing Gaiden before this? It's in game pass currently.

It was worth it for me. Some other guy on here got really mad at me a little while back for saying that Gaiden, while not mandatory, should still be played before this. Lol.
Gaiden is a beat-em-up game like the old Yakuza games, whereas this is turn-based. I greatly prefer turn-based, but Gaiden was still fun.
I hope this is a good sign that we will see discounts on this game through Steam soon. I absolutely loved Like a Dragon(and now all the other Yakuza games).

Thanks. Just downloaded Gaiden and there is a Infinite Wealth trial version that becomes available after completing Gaiden! Looks like it is meant to be played first..

Yeah. Gaiden takes place during the first Like a Dragon. Infinite Wealth covers some of that stuff, but Gaiden gives you a lot more of Kiryu's story at that time. I completely forgot it had the demo at the end. I did most everything in Gaiden and I want to say it took me about 50 hours. If you don't do everything, you can probably significantly cut that time down.
I will say that Infinite Wealth is easily worth it at this price. I paid full price and it was worth it, to me.

I absolutely love these games. Played judgment, like a dragon and Yakuza 0-4. Playing 5 now. Only thing keeping me from picking this up is I'm holding out for it to be cheaper before I'll play it.

Like a dragon is a completely different game.

They owned tango and arkane and all first party come to Gamepass so not sure about that sentiment.

Under the radar? Sega just had their best financial review of the last decade. Infinite wealth sold over a million copies in a week.
