That's probably the way I'd go too. Brush cutter's not really something I need, but string trimmer + hedge trimmer + pole saw covers a lot of bases.
If anyone is in the Sacramento area and doesnt want the brush cuter, i have 100 for you to help sweeten this deal.

This sounds pretty obvious, but as I've been observing the specs of cordless trimmers over the years - bigger batteries and bigger motors weigh more. My wife prefers the 13 in. Ryobi for this reason. I occasionally one-arm my smaller gas trimmer to reach behind an obstacle (this clearly isn't all that safe) - specs say it weighs 1.6 lbs less than the M18 after adding half a tank, but it felt like more when I handled it in-store a few years ago (may have been due to the handle position vs the balance point.)

There are some tradeoffs as you mentioned (balance point, etc) that can exist between gas and electric depending on the mfg. You could always opt for a 5aH battery if you are already in the M18 architecture and don't need the capacity of the larger 8aH.

I own this trimmer and will say it can cause some fatigue (1.5 acre lot, about 40 minutes of trim time if I am doing it right), but the benefit of not having to use my gas trimmer is certainly worth it. I still use the gas trimmer with a brush trimming head as needed a few times a year...because I felt swapping tools over something I already owned didn't warrant the cost when I purchased my kit years ago.

Keep in mind, everyone's opinion varies as all our body types/applications are different. I have a lot of space the mower cannot cut (slope), so I spend lot more time behind the trimmer than most (hence the fatigue factor).

As for EGO, I think most would argue one product or another (trimmer/blower/mower) is better from one brand or the other.......i.e. pretty comparable across the board. I suspect folks would go with one over the other if they were already in that particular lithography, OR if they wanted multiple products from company a or b. I have way too many brands already (6 different battery chargers plugged in at any one time), so I can bounce around. BUT, if I had to do it over, I would probably stick with one or two brands and take some product downside for any cost savings.

Does anyone know if it is possible to return one of the tools if it is not needed to lower the price of the overall package? I do not need the brush cutter.

EDIT: thanks OP, I went ahead and bit the bullet. I needed a new batter, could use a pole saw to help my growing fruit trees and figured I could use the brush cutter to clear weeds growing on my hill. Slammin' deal just for tool only but the additional battery really sweetens it.

No, you can't. The only time you can "hack" and return/cancel something is if it shows as a separate item in your cart. This is all under one SKU, so it cannot be split and returned.

If you have the time, Milwaukee stuff is usually easy to resell on Marketplace. I've done that many times.

Thanks Sport - I was thinking about that. I just checked Marketplace and saw the brush cutter going for $125+. I went ahead and purchased the bundle. I'm in deep both Ryobi and Milwaukee but one of the things I still have not gotten was the string trimmer. Can't wait to upgrade.

Got 1! I've been battling a ditch and can't wait to give the brush cutter a try! Should be a nice upgrade to my 40v Black and Decker (2014).

Thanks!

I have two of these with the pole saw and weed wacker attachments that I have used for 3 years on my 27 acre ranch. They get heavy use with thick weeds/brush and sawing old growth oak, pine, and cottonwood trees. I've tried other than Milwaukee and those have failed over time. I would opt for 8A batteries. The 5s though lighter, don't last long enough for me and with a shoulder harness adjusted properly the weight hasn't been an issue for anyone using them. Also, it has two settings the "turtle" vs the. "Rabbit". The turtle allows you to easily cut grass and light weeds with longer battery life.

Nice deal, about as good as it gets on this product range. A month ago I picked up this package plus the hedge trimmer attachment for $452, very comparable.
