Thats an old review. This is an upgraded mod but I haven't seen an official review for it yet.
That Rtings review is for the 2021 model. Rtings has yet to review this 2024 offering.

Most LED TV's are crap. LED < MiniLED < OLED generally. MiniLED is cheaper than OLED and does a great job for the $$.

I still prefer OLED. My puny LG 48" OLED is a beautiful TV set tho. I wish I had a 55 or 65 but right now we don't have the space.

If you care most about the quality of the picture, look at the Samsung and LG OLED deals, this MiniLED seems like a great deal overall though.

Not always. Mini LED is always better than OLED in a bright sunny living room. If you want to watch TV during the day and not having to close all your blinds, mini-LED TVs are much better at full screen brightness. OLEDs have aggressive ABL and high brightness makes burn in worse.

It's possible that it could be a panel lottery with this specific model depending on which region you buy it from.

That's the technology that the panel is using not the panel type. You typically want a VA panel for better contrast, but IPS panels are typically better at off angle viewing. Contrast levels are worse on IPS panels. If you're viewing your TV directly in front of you, you'll want a VA panel.

We'll have to wait for the RTINGS review to see which panel type is being used.
Yes you are right. Thanks.

It's all good. No worries! I'm curious to see how the QNED reviews because LG used IPS panels in the past, and each model had horrible contrast levels.

Debating between this and the 98 inch TCL. I don't need perfect picture, just want a large decent tv. The 98inch actually shows me free installation but for this tv it would be $250.

I hope the mini-LEDs are better than the LEDs they put in my 80+inch LG TV (2019-2020 era). Apparently there is a phosphor coating on the LEDs that would wear off. Long story short, my TV developed a progressively blue tint. When people came over they thought they were watching Avatar or the Smurfs...

I was able to fix it by replacing the LEDs but this was a project and a half. Before buying an LG LED TV I would make sure they resolved this issue with the LEDs not burning out but "burning blue". Just my 2c.
Opened it up and replaced the LED array?

Until projectors can be used in a bright room, I'd take a a smaller TV over projector.

Projectors also get quite hot and use a lot of electricity compared to a mini LED or OLED TV, right? This was my last experience with a 1080P projector.

Can someone tell me why a newly released QNED90T is already having a $1500 off sale?

Edit - it seems this may be an IPS panel while the 65 and 75 versions are VA... Unfortunately this model is so new that there's very little independent testing or information available...

original post...
I pulled the trigger despite people on reddit saying to avoid LG 4K mini-LEDs. I suspect previous years had issues with the IPS panels but seems this one is VA so may fix many of the previous complaints... That said, it'll get returned pretty quickly if it doesn't pass my testing.

I'm in the same boat, why is this on sale already?!

I am very close to pulling the trigger on this.

I didn't say always, just generally Smilie . I agree with you in a sense. Modern OLED (LG G3 etc) is plenty good in most any room, bright or not. Mini-LED has impressed me sometimes but I still feel like it falls short on color depth and contrast, thought it's light years better than most LED panels.

Either of them is a much better choice than the crappy, cheap panels most people buy without knowing any better.

I have never known 86" panels to be anything but IPS/ADS, so i expect the same here. Samsung is also using ADS/IPS panels in their mini-LED TVs... with great results. Yes, they have low native contrast ratio, but great contrast ratio with local dimming enabled. That's how the previous generation QNED90 was, and expect this version to be better. After all, if you have local dimming, you're gonna use it...https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/600f388c. As for the sale... this might be a one-off since BB is the only retailer at this price.

I'm with you. I'm "this close" to purchasing this as I've been researching for months and this seems like a good deal - $1500 off at launch. Almost too good for a brand new release . . .

You may be right... So far this is the best clarification I've been able to find...

https://www.forbes.com/sites/john...r-results/

Basically says that for 2024 the 65" and 75" QNED90T models will get VA panels, but the 86" will sink back to IPS... Though they seem to imply some territories may have differing versions.
