If you are debating which iPad, here is a quick comparison with the latest deals:

1. iPad Air 2022 : $399 (this deal)

2. iPad Air 2024: $549 (with Apple EDU, no verification needed). Offers the following improvements:
- Processor: M1 --> M2
- Storage: 64GB --> 128GB

3. iPad Pro 4th gen (2022): Same as iPad Air 2024, with the following additional improvements:
- Display Refresh Rate: 60hz to 120hz and display is marginally larger (3% difference)
- Cameras: Two optical cameras instead of 1 + Lidar Camera
- Face Id instead of Touch ID
The new m2 model can't possibly be that much better right
Honestly I like my old iPad but for some reason it started getting slow and I don't think this is my perception. I'm talking here about watching YouTube and browsing Safari at the same time. So no, it's not like very slow but it annoys me when I switch tabs and websites take forever to load while watching videos. I still recommend everyone the 9th but it is not good for multitasking imo. I think the whole performance is related to battery health and my battery is in really bad condition.

Turn off Background App Refresh for anything that doesn't need it. I did that on my iPhone X (!), power cycled it, and it was as fast as new but running iOS16z

Not sure which to keep. I just saw that Apple Refurb store got some Pro M1 256gb models in stock for $620. Since I had a trade-in model, I took it to the apple store, got the GC, and ordered the refurb model using the GC value. I also got an iPad AIr Gen 5 64gb (this deal) from Amazon a couple of days ago that I haven't opened yet.
  • Price: $399 (Air) vs $619 (Refurb Pro M1)...but with trade-in, my price was $385 for the Pro. Apple GC's aren't worth a lot to me since I don't buy direct from Apple very often.
  • Model generation: Only 1gen old (Air) vs 2gens old (Pro M1)...may affect value later? Maybe.
  • Disc Space: 64gb vs 256gb...I currently have 64gb and don't mind it. BUT, it would be nice to be able to use the IPad as backup for photos (RAW) from my camera during trips.
  • ProMotion: Not sure I can tell difference between 60 vs 120hz, but we'll see
  • Face ID: I value Face ID
  • Thunderbolt vs Non: Not sure if I'll ever do more than connect the iPad to a 4k monitor...if I have a hub + monitor, then the thunderbolt might mean something
  • Speakers: don't care
  • Cover: I like using the Smart Keyboard Folio on my Gen1 iPad Pro 11". I had to order a new one to fit the camera cutout shape. If I keep the Air, I think I can just use my old keyboard (even though it's quite beat up and not all keys work)
Even if I saw the Apple GC isn't worth that much to me, the real price difference is still $220 (+ $120 for the keyboard cover, found on sale on Amazon). I'm leaning towards the pro for the ability to use Trade-In value, 256gb SDD, Face ID. I could also get the IPad Air 5th Gen 256gb but that costs $599...the $200 delta just for the ~200gb seems extreme.

Even if it was 100x better iPadOS can't use it in a useful/noticeable way.

Hopefully this gets fixed at WWDC24

Mine just arrived today. Love it.

Put my mint condition Samsung Tab s7+ on eBay for sale. As much as I tried to like Android for both phones(s22 ultra and Pixel 7) and tablets(tab s7+ and pixel tablet) iOS is a lot more polished OS and is a joy to use.

I ordered this from amazon on the 18th of may and it has yet to ship as of 05/23/2024 12:21AM.
I ordered this item from walmart on 05/23/2024 with an estimated delivery date of 05/24/2024.

I would say this walmart deal is better than the amazon deal (for the same product).

What is slow about your 9th gen IPAD? I just got one a few months ago, and it seems zippie to me. Now, I do very basic stuff on it, and don't really play games on it (I did play a few arcade games with free offer for a few weeks), and mostly web surf, email, watch streaming videos, youtube,zoom. 64gb seems plenty for what I do, and I delete apps that I don't plan on using. I have about 40 gig's free.

I know some people do more intensive stuff on IPADS, what are you doing that slows down your IPAD.

I am looking at getting an ipad air 5th gen or 6th gen , ... because I love my IPAD 9th gen so much ...

I am holding back because good deals happen during holiday season bf/cm/xmas time.

If using apps like procreate and designing large poster format, I believe, both Air3 and iPad 9 limited to less than 10 layers. M1 and M2 Air much better layer support
