From my research Pro allows editing of group policy which stops unwanted automatic updates but I don't have Pro yet to confirm
Not sure if Home uses these registry keys, but gp sets the "AUOptions" and family of keys in Pro. Maybe gp doesn't run, but maybe home honors those key settings. Tho I'm not sure.

Gonna take a shot at this... I'll report back as to how it works.
Key worked fine.
Scenario: I had virtualized an old laptop prior to getting rid of it, then tried to run the image as a VM under HyperV on my new laptop. Unsurprisingly, the activation key no longer worked due to the hardware changes. I used this new key to reactivate Windows and it activated fine.

I've tried all sorts of tips to stop automatic updates including changes to the registry and running PolicyPlus but none of them have worked, unfortunately

Never buy software from woot, it's a bait and switch scam, you will just receive a windows 8 key, not sure why they even allow this to happen.

Not sure why you are saying this when literally two posts earlier I wrote that I purchsed a Win 10 pro key and it worked perfectly. And for the record, no, I did not "receive a Windows 8 key"
