Never dealing with trade ins with these scam artists
there's no way I'm trading in a phone AND signing a 24 month contract just to get a $500 phone. At that price u might as well just buy the phone and switch to visible.

I believe on my account (at least) you can just add a line and get either the 8 or the 8a for free and then cancel the original line. If that doesn't work I'm just gonna leave T-Mobile and buy the phone when it hits $350. The 8a is a downgrade from the 6 slower charging, cheaper build weaker battery life and no reverse wireless charging and smaller screen no way I would trade it for that. I'm either gonna get this phone free or just get cheaper service personally. Def not signing a contract and doing a trade in
Man no love for Essentials plan??

Is the 8 THAT bad? Considering buying an s9 of eBay and keeping the 6 as a backup.
you don't have to buy anything if your current device isn't under payments. Add a line get the 8a for free and cancel the first line it's not that hard. No, the 8 isn't bad and you should keep your premium device as a backup in case you need it or don't wanna buy insurance.

Not for simple choice plans. Works if you want to add a line that will be $20 per month. Does anyone know when to cancel the line without impacting promo

@mrshawn Don't forget about the space lasers! It comes from their horns!

Edit: Apparently the previous anti-semitic conspiratorial post was deleted so now I look like the crazy one.

I was right according to the T-Mobile website, it says free if you add a line OR trade in an eligible device. So you add a line and then cancel the original line and trade in nothing. If this doesn't work I'll just leave T-Mobile and buy the phone when the price goes down. Simple there is no need to trade in a device and sign a contract for a plastic budget phone 🥺
If you cancel the original. There must be a penalty?

Would TM accept a S22+ 5G with a slightly cracked screen for this trade-in offer?

If you cancel the promo line, then you pay the full device price correct?. This could be interesting

Yes, you must keep the new line with the promo for the full 2 years in order to keep the deal.

I agree.
I have to call every month to get credit owed to me on my trade for pixel 7 pro. I traded my like brand new Samsung Note 10+ for $800 credit with Sprint. And they goofed it up and only applied 400 credit. Also, they don't even have any record of the contract or original email. And there is no way to send across the email to T-Mobile CS.

Talking about grandpa plans, I'm still on Simple Choice and couldn't get any deals at all, nor could I add a line in the current plan.

Sucks how for Samsung/Apple you can go back several generations to get the 500 off but for Google it's just 1 gen, if you have a pixel 6 your out of luck. Pretty sure a Pixel 6 is still better than a 8a, I have never had this phone slow down on me. Might be nice to upgrade to an 8 though.

Take pictures, and NEVER SEND IN (mail in) trade ins, ALWAYS take them to a "Corporate store" and have them check it and credit it to the account in store, then they send it to their warehouse. 95% less chance of them screwing it up. ! (Fixed it)

Yes there trade in by mail is done by a third party company and these horror stories are always happening with them, I've had one before and since then I always go into a store and haven't had an issue since.

Why do you need to keep the original line for 90 days?
You can cancel the original line immediately after the new line promotion is applied.
