And gold is scarce? I continue to see gold all over the place. It's the next fiat currency. Just dig more and we'll find it. Conversely, BTC - there's only 21 million coins. Can't make any more.
There's lots of digital assets that are worth a lot of nominal dollars, like GME, it's up 200% this week. If you like digital assets you have lots of choices, have at it.

Gold is for people who want something tangible with intrinsic value. So that's not bitcoin, NFTs or GameStop, no matter how much they go up.

Gold actually has a purpose. Can't say the same for BTC

Gold is not all that rare. It's main use these days is in jewelry. People in China are buying up gold like crazy because their economy is in the toilet. People are also buying in the US because they don't know any better. If you think you're going to trade gold when the SHTF, you're wrong. Guns, bullets, medicine, and food would be for trade. If you think that gold is going to make you a lot of money, well, historically that's not the case. There are times of great run-ups, and we're in one now, but probably at the tail end. Once gold starts heading down, it'll get rather hard to sell your safe full of bars. Even now, it's an liquid asset.

Let me correct something you said.

"People are also buying in the US because they don't know any better"

No, they're not actually. There has been a net sell on Gold ETF GLD. Americans are selling, East Asia is buying.

I love these comments, more indication the big bull run is just getting started.

But you're right, the real money is made in gold and silver miners.

North American gold ETFs have switched to inflows in March and April. Europe is still heavily selling gold ETFs.

not that it means anything - gold is breaking out despite clueless retail investors. Hedge funds and institutions are piling on while clueless retail investors chase NVDA.

The real money is made by costco selling these bars.

The margin is very small, they're barely making anything at these prices.

Guys....
are you seeing this?

"By using the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi, you could earn $1.60 in annual cash back rewards for this purchase. Not a Cardmember?"

That's for TWO gold maples.

It looks like Citibank has changed the rules of the game? No longer giving 2% back on gold purchases from Costco? I called and customer service rep confirmed they stopped giving 2% back on any bullion purchases from costco online.

WTF!

Anyone seeing or hearing the same?

Still showing 2% back if I use my Citi card

Correct, VarmintCong... You are correct. Costco does not make much selling gold or any products at Costco. they make millions each year when members pay $60 to $120 a year to shop at a costco store. the real play is buying and owning some shares at Costco. Remember going to Price club? Costco purchased price club many years ago. Costco have a good business model . Now costco management is cracking down on those that do not have memberships trying to use the gift card to shop. Have you looked at the stock lately. ? cheers.
