On doing research, Walkabout Wednesdays is $13 for 6oz steak OR chicken with adult sized fries and a domestic beer or fountain drink. No real need to use this kids menu hack

Ironically I tend to tip more the less I spend. Percentage wise anyways. Especially like the Chilis $10.99 deal the waiter was on it the whole time with multiple refills and dealing with my kids. Really nice restaurants with multiple staff I tip well as well. But these middle grade restaurants that think they are much more than they are and charge a lot more than they should I'm much less generous. The stupid surcharge bumped it over the edge. I'm tired of businesses pushing off costs to the customers. Instead of paying their own employees or eating the cost of things like credit card fees they expect us to pay for it.

I'd rather buy New York Strip Steak, Prime Beef, 1 Per Tray, 0.4 - 0.93 lb [walmart.com] and cook it on cast iron pan at home. Super easy and better value. $17/lb

I refuse to tip. Tipping is a scam. Servers should be paid properly by their boss.

I agree and why is it in the past 15% is acceptable and now people expect 18% minimum?

It is not the pandemic anymore and wages definitely went up by 3% or more from the pandemic so why are we still expect to tip more?

That and food prices went up, so that 15% is alot more of a tip today. Its not like food prices stayed the same so now it needs to be 18% to account for inflation adjustment.

Was 10% originally, didn't get to 15% until the 70's 80s timeframe. Frown

I do this all the time when we order Longhorn for lunch at work. You can choose the temp and the side (loaded baked potato for me).

The cheeseburger kids meal at Longhorn is pretty solid too, and it's $7.99 in my area. It's a lot bigger than I expected for a kids meal, probably about 1/4 lb.

You can also order a loaded baked potato as a side for $2.99. I often will order a kids meal for lunch and then an extra baked potato for dinner or lunch the next day. In my area the toppings come packaged individually so it stays relatively fresh.

I'm thinking it's CYA. It's tough to cook such a small steak and not overcook it, although as you said most kids (following in the parents' footsteps) will get well done anyway.

I'm "converting" my kids from well done - that's what my wife orders in the rare instances she orders steak. Then they complain it's dry and tough. Well duh. Now my oldest (who really likes steak) orders medium.
