If this is your house, consider putting in an exhaust fan to expel litterbox smells & 3D printer fumes. I have a cheap shower fan on a motion sensor yeeting all of kitty's litter dust and fresh-poop smell out of the house. Makes a huge difference.

3D printer should be in an enclosure at the very least. If you're printing any exotic materials you should be venting that out as well as certain filaments can produce toxic fumes.
Austin air is the only way to go, IMO:
15 lbs of activated charcoal
60 sq ft of hepa material
I replace my filter once in 5 years.
Not too bad. I change mine once a year.

It's as easy as installing a dryer vent. 4" hole, install either a quiet bathroom or ceiling exhaust fan. The best way to vent any space is always to have an intake and an exhaust. So if you are doing this you should also have a separate intake across the room, otherwise your ceiling fan will just be pulling air from any nook and cranny.
Good point, although many (most?) homes these days have an air exchanger. Just like every other vent in your house (dryer, bathroom, etc) a basement kitty-litter vent probably doesn't need an explicit intake installed.

Are these loud? Would it be distracting having it near your living room?

Definitely but even the Austin air gets saturated pretty quickly. The hepa filter will far outlast the carbon.

Does anyone have any opinions on getting the OEM filter replacement or some other brand on amazon?

Lasts me 5 years. I can tell when it's wearing out as I cook a lot but don't like the lingering smells.
