As a PS5 owner and avid rocket player, I had two PS5 controllers go down with it in the first year lol. Also own a switch. Pro controller has been nice, joycons have been hot garbage. for whatever reason, this isn't just a Microsoft problem. all the major console brands have stick drift issues.

it's pretty sad when the funky mad catz controllers from 20 years ago are more durable than modern day controllers

Mine lasted over a year I think almost 2 actually of daily use by a kiddo. Will grab this one and sell the broken one for parts or whatever lol.

Glad to hear you got a good batch.
On over a dozen controllers across several generations spaced out months / years apart. Yeah, good batch. ;P

Patiently awaiting the day they all return to a design where stick drift just wasn't a thing. Switch, ps5, Xbox series - all seemed to have jumped into the same manufacturer's bed this generation. Still rocking all my 360 and One controllers without issue for now.

Refer to Hall Effect joysticks which many companies are switching to now with no drift issues

It's ridiculous how much stick drift happens on Xbox controllers. Terrible quality. I have thrown out probably 3 controllers over the last 5 years.
I've had 3 die this year already! My OEM that came with the 'box lasted ~2 years... Quality is going backwards!

Absolutely. They make "disposable" controllers.

I am not a gamer. I rarely play and I've had an issue with 3 controllers, through the Xbox one life. My other is a big gamer and plays often. He has broken 12+ controllers. Mainly due to rocket league. I think there may be an actual issue with their controllers.

None of the 3 console makes offer an OEM with hall effect sensors. You have to go third party or aftermarket unfortunately.

Verizon doesn't offer a third party extended warranty. I definitely flexed my Allstate warranty from a Walmart purchase 4 hears ago. Without that warranty this a $36 lease with an undetermined timeframe.

Just a heads up to people using this Xbox controller with their steamdeck while docked.

I was having many connection issues. Not sure why, the controller would randomly drop out and the light starts blinking. Not good during gameplay. Battery was charged, not the cause.

I'm currently using a ps5 controller with my steamdeck with no issue. Bummer because the buttons have different symbols, but it works.

This is purely for useful advice, don't drag me into a fanboy war. Thanks

I'm in a facebook group called buy nothing. It's where people give away their things for free. Someone gave away an xbox one controller with some stick drift instead of selling it. I didn't get it. I don't know why more people can't just give things away like this instead of trying to charge a buck for it. It's all a bit "stingy" to me.

A few weeks ago, someone's wife posted an xbox one X for free and I just happened to be looking at the right time and I got it right away. They weren't sure it worked and it didn't have a power chord but when I brought it back, I plugged it in and it booted right up just fine. The wife left another comment saying "my husband just told me it's not the X series, I don't know what that means". LOL. I said "thanks I'm still on my way". No idea why they thought it might not work; it booted up just fine. I think they were moving; they gave a lot of things away frantically that day. Next step was to find a controller. I just missed target circle week and their $35 controller. I was at a thrift store just browsing when to my surprise I found an xbox one controller but without a battery cover or price tag. I brought it up with my other things I was buying and the clerk said "just take it" -- a very reasonable solution in my opinion.

So the free controller that I got for my free xbox one x works perfectly fine without any stick drift. It's the first version of that controller so I can't plug my headphones into it. I did order the stereo headset adapter so I can plug my headphones into the controller and talk to my friends while we play fortnite, although I wish I also got the headset adapter for free.

Anyways, that's why I'm not buying this controller because my other idea was to wait for a new controller to be $35 again but I already ordered the adapter for my current controller. I'm excited to play fortnite on my xbox one x now instead of my PS4 pro. The PS4 pro controllers give me connectivity and charging problems all the time.

Is this the newest x box controller or is a old one?
