It's a good price but you buy these 12v 100w "RV" panels all day long at sites like signature solar dot com for $50. The free shipping is the best part of this.

I got a couple of these panels a few weeks ago and they are absolute garbage I would avoid these like the plague they're not as efficient they also don't give out the rated these compared to renorgy and signature solar panels only give out about 65 watts per hundred watt panel indirect sunlight where the signature solar and renergy panels for around 95 Watts

BS. I've had two of these on my gazebo for over a year and I can still pull MORE than the rated power. Yesterday, 5/16, my max charge power was 207 watts at one time. You need to check your configuration or other components if you're getting 65 watts.
Can you please share your configuration or help me setup something which is not super expensive? I have a 14x12 gazebo away from my home where I need power, specially In nights to run my string led lights and probably some other occasional light usage. Thanks

You just sound like a shill lol. Can you actually link to these panels that are only an "extra $20"
Just sharing my experience. Go for those acopowers big guy. Then, you can share some actual experience. For the rest of you, a quick Google search will show you the ecoflows 2 for 150 with free shipping at off grid stores but they come up on sale frequently at other places too. Like I said, I've had the ecoflows for over a year and I'm happy with them and they are clearly better in some specs.

There is no "cheap" way for you to do this.
You need battery storage options, and that isn't cheap, but its way cheaper now than they were 2 years ago.
Also, try to stay in a 12v mindset for optimum bang for the buck in battery storage. i.e. fans, led lights, etc. RV style refrigerators coolers, etc.
The problem is the batteries. Cold and high heat really shorten their life span / charge cycles, or flat out kills them.
Dealing with the heat is easy - keep them out of direct sunlight. Cold, no getting around that but taking them indoors.
Lots, and lots of youtube vids out there for off grid living.

I've got two Chins LiFePO4 256wh in parallel and connected to a 20A HQST MPPT Solar Charge Controller (with fuses!). Two of these panels run in series with an inline fuse to the charge controller. The charge controller also has a DC output which I use for my garden lighting. The controller is nice because it has built in bluetooth. I also have a 12v inverter connected to the batteries that runs my fan, laptop charger, etc. All of this is inside a waterproof battery box inside a deck box. One thing to note is that I pounded an 8ft copper clad ground rod into the ground and grounded my gazebo and inverter with it. But maybe i'm paranoid...

That's a lot of cost and complication just to run some string lights. Are you running them all the time? If not and you do not have AC access you could just run them off a battery without the solar bit. You could also run some items off a battery without the solar.

I've had small scale solar here for 15 years, first lead acid and now upgraded to Lifepo4 I put together. I use it frequently to charge phones and batteries everyday. You're looking at about $500 on top of the panel to do much with solar. Very little if you can just run your lights directly off a battery.

I agree with the other poster that it's far easier to use 12 volt devices, but for mine I also have it as a small power backup -just in case- so I have to have an AC inverter.

Once you start moving beyond just these lights you need a bigger and bigger battery.

I'm really tempted to pick up one of these panels, but I sort of decided I wasn't going beyond 300 watts with anything in a 12 volt size.

100W 12v panels are in the I'm trying out solar catagory. Say you just want a "starter system" then later on you want to add to your capacity. You will be tieing 4 panels together so you will need 4 sets of connectors and 4 sets of wires and pigtails to connect them all together. Will probably want fuses for each panel as well. Meanwhile since you only had a 12V system you had to buy much larger wire (read much more expensive) because 12v needs a lower gauge wire to the charge controller or you will have very high loss in your system. Since your running 12V you will run out of amps on that small 12V charge controller faster too!
TLDR: 100W panels were ok 10 years ago but aren't the standard anymore and there is a reason why everyone is clearancing out of them!

For just lights the cheap way is to just buy some all in one solar led light kits and be done with it. You really aren't going to want to have a solar charge controller and a few "car size" lithium batteries sitting in your nice gazebo are you? If not then the solar panels will be on the Gazebo but you will have to run wires to the house or shed ( solar charge controllers usually don't like to be wet) and store the litihum batteries there too but then you need to run wire back to the Gazebo for the lights. May as well just run 120v out t the Gazebo at that point. Just grab some solar LED lighs from Amazon and put up the small solar panel they come with and be done with it! Your not hanging out in the Gazebo for 10 hours a night are you? The other cheap(ish) option would be to just buy one of the smaller/medium ( depending on usage) solar generators and keep it charged in your garage ( from house power) and carry it / wheel it depending on its size out to the gazebo and plug the lights in when needed.

I tried solar led light strings. But those are weak so I replaced them with wired ones. Occasionally, inside my gazebo, I use a small table fan, speaker or mobile charger. And yes sometimes my projector to watch late night movies.

I was thinking to have a eco flow river 2. It has a clean look. Light weight. And I was thinking to hang it inside near the top of gazebo. I have to be a little innovative there. This battery has inbuilt charge controller and inverter too.

I don't need this setup during extreme cold weather so plan is to move the battery inside during winter season.

Will it work ?

Ecoflow river 2 is a 256 WH solar generator and would power a fan and some LED lights for a few hours, the projector is iffy, and it all depends on if you got a $50 projector from Amazon that has low light output or an 3000 lumin bulb projector. Really though for any projector I would want to go with a larger solar generator but especially if you have a old school lamp projector as if the lamp projector and with it the cooling fans for the bulb just suddenly power off because you generator ran out of juice this can pop your projector bulb! if you are using an LED or laser projector then this is not of a concern but those can use a lot of watts depending on the model.

I've got an Ecoflow Delta 2 with the extra battery. I bought 2 of these panels to "dip my toe" into solar.

Anything I need to know before hooking them up: someone mentioned fuses?
