I've used this grill, or one exactly like it, for a few years now. It has served me well enough, but really only a one person grill, maybe two. You are also not supposed to keep the lid on while cooking fyi which means food isn't going to cook well so if you are like me, you defy the instructions and use the lid anyway.

You have to have a complete flat surface. Any angle at all your eggs will just slide right into the grill making a mess. I like that I can use the lid to boil water. Sometimes I make water for coffee in it.

All that said, I would probably go with a different option at this point I have been eyeing the cuisineart CGG. You can get them on Amazon warehouse all the time for under $100.

Still though, not a bad grill for the price but it's got some issues as well IMO.

Don't buy. They will go cheaper, because they have to sell them

If you are using propane cooker you have zero taste. Instead of it use oven at home basically the same thing. PROPANE COOKER IS NOT A GRILL.

I bought one of these last year at Ollie's for cheaper than this (maybe $50?), plus Ollie's runs a 15% coupon quite often. Might be worth checking there if you have an Ollie's nearby. Came in handy at lost lands last year, used it to boil water in a tea kettle, zero cleanup afterwards

Check your Amex Offer too for Ollie's. I think it is $10 back for $50 or more purchase.

Uhhh... the fat from the meat drips into the flame and adds flavor.

If you crank up the heat to sear on a propane grill it really cooks the fat. You can't get that in an oven.

Are the propane flames safe for direct contact with the food?

Yes but the flames themselves won't be touching the food anyway with this grill.

My girlfriend and I bought this for camping. Ultimately it didn't live up to our hopes and it's been a long time since we've taken it with us. There's nothing horrible about it, it works roughly as advertised. But the cooking surface is smallish, and when using the griddle it can be difficult not to lose stuff over the sides. There's not much of a lip so it has to be pretty level as well. There's marginal improvement using the "grill" side vs. the griddle size. It's slightly fiddly to set up, with the legs and you're supposed to put water in the main body. It's bulkier than some other options for carrying.

Maybe it will work for you (nothing horrible to say about it), but ultimately it wasn't a great fit for us. We bit the bullet and carry a larger travel griddle now and a two burner folding stove.

7000 BTU is hella weak, 30% less than one burner on a cheap camping stove

Propane also doesn't add all that great flavor of 'easy start' charcoal nor requires 30-45 of time before AND after cooking like charcoal does.

And no, an oven and a grill aren't the same thing. Perhaps google "heat transfer and cooking" to see how different cooking methods lead to different flavors. Do you think a pan fried egg will taste the same as a baked egg in the oven? How about a cake cooked on a propane grill? Guess air flying, convection, etc are just buzz words as well. Same as an oven, eh.

P.S. If you aren't cooking over WOOD....yOu HaVe ZeRo TaSte.

Not based on size (total surface area). Plus when using anything other than open air grilling most of that heat will be directly transferred to the cooking surface not vented into the sky. Try taking a window AC outside and see how well it works vs when you keep those 'BTU's' trapped inside a small room. Similar concept.
