Solid performer, as I could experience in the past year after buying one from Amazon for $60 (two $20 discounts which for a shot time lined up, and I was curious.)
Two caveats:
1. App does not integrate with anything (Google Home, Amazon, Home Assistant etc.) You are stuck with the app.
2. It does not use the Zigbee protocol and its mesh network, so you may need to add a wifi access point (or positioning existing ones) close to it if you want to use it to water areas that are not close to the house.
For $40 each it might be worth it. There are similarly priced Zigbee irrigation timers, I would not say similar in quality, but reliable for a few years in my experience.
Plastic connectors, these will last a year in direct sun. You can get a single one on Amazon for 40$ with brass connections.
My thoughts exactly, wonder if it would help to wrap it up in something simple like black plastic to reduce UV degradation. Do you need regular access to the screen for anything or does the app do it all?
I've never had a hose-related device that wasn't permanently, slowly leaking in at least one of the connections.

I have the orbit timers that use black plastic connectors and they are over 5 years old at this point and no problems with the connectors. I've had a few fail and it's always been the internals start leaking.
That said they randomly don't water as well (I have over 10 at this point and they all will randomly not water, so don't really trust them), which I'm wondering if anyone has has issues with these rachio ones randomly not watering?
These are amazing for gardens. I have them water my strawberries and tomatoes and if it rains I can just set a rain delay in the app without having to go out to the timer. If it's been extra hot and dry I can run then manually from my phone for some extra water.
I might have to swing by Costco to check if this is there. My rainpoint just broke on me. I tried to take it apart and spread flexseal all over it but there is some kind of hole in the plastic pipes
I'm currently looking for one to water an area with fresh seed.
I have water sprinkler with a rachio controller. I plan to use these for the veggie garden and to water hotspots in my grass in the summer. I think for this price and being able to control them all in the same app is a no brainer.
