can anyone cite any quotes or out the door pricing they paid for one of these??
K
It has been exported to 170 countries and is often a top choice by NGO's / government agencies in some of the harshest parts of the world.
These modern day ones look fairly crappy compared to the 90's Monteros except maybe the PHEV.
Mitsu is dying on the vine in America. I can't imagine buying one (any of them, alas) in America in the past 10 years or so; they have neither money nor engineering prowess required to introduce competitive cars in this country. I wonder how long they will continue in the USA; IMHO most Mitsu dealers have a primary business of either selling another brand or selling used cars, and they sell Mitsu on the side.
I said for me it came down to those two. For you, maybe it was something different. Both were well within budget, but for how much I drive (or don't) and how much I care (or don't) about all the superfluous bells and whistles added on to the price tag, I kinda do wish I went with the Outlander and saved $15k.

And I'd never buy a Mitsu in America in 2024. Maybe they will improve; maybe they won't. I don't want to be a beta tester. The mostly likely scenario IMHO is they become a marketing brand / reseller for Nissan/Renault and cease any real development on their own, ala Buick/Cadillac/GMC/Oldsmobile/Pontiac/etc. brands. Given the cash crunch that N/R/M Alliance has had over the past decade, things, IMHO, do not look good.
Inside cargo area, Outlander at 64 cubic ft (smaller than a RAV4 even…), Telluride has 87 cubic feet.
The two are completely different classes of vehicles, and I find cross shopping between the two to be very unusual. I don't think most people would do so.
Outlander is a close second and may be a tech marvel in disguise. It's a joy to ride. Try one when you get a chance. You will be stone surprised.

1. See above about Scotty Kilmer.
2. I never thought about any of that, because I don't care about any of that.
