If just for gaming, put that $475 towards a new GPU before ever upgrading the CPU.
Both the 7950X or 8950X will also have much higher cooling needs than your 7600, so you'd have to consider if you need to update your cooling too.
edit - for reference, I went with the 7800x3d processor ($350) and Asus Tuf 4080 super ($999) - 5% credit card discount.
