The only real issue is that it doesn't automatically search for a network after power loss, which apparently a lot of people couldn't figure out?

You just have to hit the wireless connection button once for it to reconnect.

My issue with a refurb is my older (4 or 5 year old running constantly) model has developed a high pitched coil whine. I feel like I'd rather get a new one next time it hits Costco for $99

I got one of these through woot for my basement. I have a litter box down there and it's just musty due to old wood I guess. Ive been running this now for about a month and it's been absolutely great. It's actually kind of wild. When one of the cats use the litter box the unit turns red, I guess detecting the air quality.

It obviously doesn't get rid of all the odor but it definitely made a difference in the musty basement smell there was. If I spend some time down there and go back upstairs you can actually smell upstairs is kinda off. Going to get a few more of these units for around the house and bedrooms.

These are pretty decent in my experience but I prefer to buy them directly from Winix [winixamerica.com] for $69.99 when they go on sale; which is often.

The air quality sensor works great (will detect cooking orders, alcohol based spray cleaners remarkably well for example) and third party replacement filters can be easily found on Amazon pretty cheap.

The only issue that I have with them is that if the power goes out even briefly these units will default to off and will not turn on automatically. I've had instances where the my C545s have been off for weeks without me being aware due to a very minor power outage that lasted less than 5 seconds.

Overall I would dare say that refurbished C545s are the best bargain/overall bang for buck you can get currently. Nothing in their price range has come close to what C545s offer IMO; at least I have not found anything that can compare price and feature wise...
I solved the power issue by adding the filters to Home Assistant and then have an automation that turned them all back on if the power goes out.

I think any thing related to cancer is ban from Cali. This filter reduce the chances of lung cancer.

Bought this same unit from Woot 2 years ago and still going strong. No weird sounds, no wifi issues and use reputable 3rd party filters when a change is needed.

In for another one as I missed the last one. Thanks OP!

Have to install HACs and get the winix integration then add winix account and then get control of the filters. https://ibb.co/02yTFYJ

I have 5 of them, one failed due to the motor bearings failing (no fan just blinking light). The motor costs more than the entire unit so it's probably not worth replacing out of warranty (it failed after about 3y of 24/7 use).

Some of the others are starting to make noise as well, there could be a way to replace only the bearings - I may try that on one of the loud ones if I can find replacements - they look similar to bearings you'd find in a skateboard wheel but require some desoldering to access the bearings.

Costco once comes with additional filters. It's a better deal than buying these refurbs.
^This. I never buy refurb air purifiers. Certain things I do not want contaminated by someones house. But if it came with two sets of new brand name filters it would have been worth, just for the filters

Me too!!! Invisionclean, Winix and coway...
I think winix works the best, I do have them with similar capacity too. Invision clean is meh, but it has a uv light or and ion, no night mode, no wifi. It's been in my house for 3 years. Then coway is better than invisionclean, it has smart detection of air quality and auto turns on high or low, night mode, no uv light tho (mu model doesnt). However it cleans well, because we have dogs and cats, and I can't believe how I survived without an air purifier in my bedroom, after getting that coway one, you don't smell any animal and I don't sneeze before I get up anymore. Winix I got last year, I think it is the best, I think this is the same model I got too, it works well, I have it in my living room, and my kitchen is all open and I cook a lot, but it helps clean the air within 30mins. All of my air purifiers are working fine, they are on 24/7, barely hear them, unless turn on high. The coway has been 3.5 years, invisionclean has been 3 years and this winix has been on for a year and never had a problem. (fingers crossed lol).

Bought this from Woot 8 months ago and it already making noise when running. I tried to open it up to check inside but could not see anything abnormal. The noise sounds like rusting sound. I did re-tape some wirings inside and put it back together, noise seems a bit better but I picked up a Levoit one on Amazon cause it's on sale. Build quality is better, would not buy this again.

Damn good deal. On sale, these go for 100$ new at Costco. I'd pay 65$ for a refurb any day.

Costco goes on sale all the time, plus comes with two filters , the 2nd filter is easily worth $40 if you are not into generics - and you get a new machine
