I disagree with above comment. I detailed high end cars while I was going to USC, and have been using this duster daily on my cars for the last 35 years. That advice might hold some weight if your car doesn't have a coat of wax on it or isn't garaged. But if it is garaged and is waxed at least a few times a year, this will keep your car looking freshly washed all the time. I start the car and then spend 45 seconds dusting the whole car and then drive off. I had a Porsche before this Infiniti and it looked showroom condition all the time in large part thanks to this duster. I almost forgot the point of my post. In memory of the 99c stores closing down, a great memory of mine about 5-6 years ago was walking in one day to look around and saw a whole shelf filled with these original California Car Dusters with the wooden handle (premium) for $6.99. Bought about 5-6 of them, which will last the rest of my life. I'm currently using one that's been in use for 15+ years of daily use. They keep working better and better the dirtier they get.

Please don't use this on your car's paint. Pushing around dry dirt and dust will add scratches and swirls to your paint.

It's advisable to spray on some form of lubricant such as quick detailer or rinseless wash, and then use a damp microfiber towel to pick up the encapsulated particles. This reduces chances of scratching, and also has the added benefit of leaving a layer of protection on top of your paint.

There's nothing wrong with using these, I've been using them for years. Properly used, they are a great addition to your car care regiment. Like anything, you have to be smart about it. The car should be waxed or coated, all of mine have ceramic now and have for years. I live in the desert where it rains dust...I use these every day. You give it a spritz of detailing spray or waterless wash before use. Otherwise, it will build up static and attract more dust. You glide this over the car, without using pressure. Halfway done, shake it out and give it another mist. If I miss more than 2 days, I break out the waterless wash instead. Most don't have the dust I do, so YMMV. Once a month, pull the head off and wash it in the sink. A must.

I show my cars. Go to any car show and you'll see these all over the place.

Again, these are for dusty cars, not dirty cars.

As a guy with limited garage space to do my hobby level Woodworking, I spray sawdust all over my wife's fancy new bmw SUV all the time. Maybe this will help remedy that issue!

I've used them on and off for well over 20yrs. BEFORE "advanced" coatings/wax (ceramic, graphene, etc). Follow the directions and you'll be fine.
All that said, my office is next to a freeway interchange among some hills. We get a lot of dust from the wind. This is useful for most of the summer where it's dry (SoCal). I can go a few extra weeks before needing to wash. How nasty the wheels are determines whether or not I wash. Once there's mist, fog or morning condensation, the duster is mostly useless. This duster is best for dry environments, like the southern states.

If you're getting swirls (WTF?) you are using it WRONG or never used it and are just aping some basement keyboard warrior.

The only thing this is good for, let me repeat the only thing this is good for is right after washing and drying your car but have some LINT, only I repeat LINT still on the paint, then you use this to remove it. Car comes out showroom shiny afterwards

Just use a waterless wash if it's dusty. Assuming you're not using any pressure when using this, it will induce micro marring. If you have a ceramic coat it's probably ok to use this.

LOL at people scrubbing their cars with this. Use it lightly and it won't hurt your clear coat.

I wax my 11 year old graphite colored Honda three times a year, wash it when needed, and use this duster between washes. ZERO swirls/marks and I regularly get compliments on how good my car looks. I wonder how many knocking this duster actually used it at all, how many used it and used it to scrub instead of a light dusting, and how many never used it and are simply repeating what they read on the social media echo chamber.

As a user of this I have one thing to say, only use this if your car is garaged, if your car is parked outside or on the street where it is subjected to microscopic sand and things it will scratch your paint.

I've been using the mini duster version of this for my house for years. It works awesome as a home duster.
My only warning is to always store it in the bag that it comes with. When new, the wax on it can leave stains on things.
