I don't own this one, but do have the 4k Max and the Fire Cube (both 3d gen) and it works on both of those. Not all perfect - no DTS-MA:X and certain DV profiles glitch completely on both of these Fire devices.
I had searched far and wide for devices to do Atmos and DTS-MA:X passthrough and the only devices that are cited to have this feature set are the Shield, 4k Max, and Fire Cube (but only 3rd gen). The Shield doesn't do DV, but does do the lossless passthrough; though it's 5 years old, it's still a better hardware device.
