It must be a sad life to be that concerned about what others think of you…
I'd be much more concerned with accuracy than what Jimbo thinks of my tools. Anything other than lugs and some suspension stuff, I would look elsewhere… saving the money ain't worth mis-torquing your heads 😉

I have the 1/2" 10-150. It covers everything I need to torque, but I haven't used it in anything under 50 ft-lbs. If you need anything bigger than engine fasteners and lug nuts, you might want to go with the 25-250 model.
Comparing it to my coworker's Matco, it seems to be within about ±5% accuracy.

Embarassing to pull out a tool named lexivon out of your tool chest 🤣

Haven't used a torque wrench before, but got the 1/4 inch torque wrench (that goes from 20 to 200 in-lb). It doesn't make an audible click noise when the set torque is met. Why? I set it at the lowest torque (20 in-lb) and tried it on a couple bolts and I know for a fact I was exerting more than the necessary torque as the length is probably about a foot long, and I know for a fact I was applying more than 1.5 - 2 pounds of force.
There's no loud clicking noise with these… it's a very light click, the neck gives slightly right at the head attachment.

Or a $15,000 loan on his matco toolbox that sits in his rent a shed.

I bought this the last time it was on sale, have used for lug nuts and mower blades, seems well made and the storage case is heavy duty.

Which one's better, this vs the $20 Harbor freight 1/2 inch torque wrench for fastening lug nuts on my commuter?
(I have smaller Tektons for work in the lower torque ranges)

Got to take some pride in the tools you own. My hand tools are all mid tier such as gearwrench. Nothing fancy like matco or snap-on.

You get what you pay for with inaccurate trash like lexivon.

I personally just use a digital torque adapter so you can use a regular ratchet or breaker bar for torquing your bolts down and the adapter pops on as a middle-man between the socket and the ratchet. Much cheaper and also easier to protect from calibration-altering impacts than a physical torque wrench.

Hey, Pittsburg Pro torque wrenches are testing very positively for torque accuracy (checkout independent testing on Project Farm and Tools Tested channels on Youtube). Somewhat surprinsgly for the price point. They often go on sale for $12. Can't beat that! For the occasional weekend mechanic, it gets the job done. No reason I can think of to spend more on a Lexivon, Tekton, Husky, Craftsman, etc.

HF is infinitely better. their ICON wrenches are actually really good. i got the ICON 1/2" split beam wrench for about $120. after a year of heavy use it still hits within 3% of the target. these lexivon click wrenches are inaccurate when new, and god forbid you forget to reset the torque back down to zero on one of these cheap spring wrenches and leave in a box for month, you'll be getting clicks like 30 pounds off target

I seem to need these every once in a while for various projects. Any recommendations on which one to pick up?
Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Tools.
They have a lifetime warranty too and usually price around $20.

Just FYI you can always borrow torque wrenches and other tools from shops like advance auto parts. You effectively buy a used tool from them and they give you a full refund if you return it in 90 days.

From the accuracy tests i saw on yt the HF model is better. I got one and am happy with the build quality, but i have no way to test accuracy. they just ended a sale @ hf unfortunately

Just don't be stupid and care for you tool friends. Any most expensive spring will weaken if let on compressed (or stretched) for too long.
