Reddit says stay away from this company if you want long term support.
YouTube reviews (paid/incentivized) says great bike for the price.
SD commenters are more interested in teaching Global Macroeconomics 101.
I can't see any reason to spend this much on something that can very well become paperweight after about a year of usage. Which is a shame. I would've liked to have gotten a "Slickdeal".
So I bought two of the Austin for $519 for my kids back then. I'm thinking of getting this for myself. They've put over 200 miles on it since and no issues (got 2 flats but thats on my kids).
This one is couple hundred more..but it does have 750w motor/52V 13AH battery vs. 500w/48V 14AH battery on the Austin.
All else seems to be similar--20x3 fat tire, mechanical brakes (ugh), top speed, weight, etc.
Not sure if its worth the $200 if I'm only getting the bigger motor. If they had upgraded the brakes to hydraulics, then maybe its a consideration. But I'll hold off until a better deal comes around...

No damage or issues with the rear rack like some others here. The rear derailleur needed some DIY adjustment on one bike but other than that, everything works flawlessly.

Things are looking brighter. Engwe promises to make my problem good.
Two weeks ago, FedEx brings my bike. Box is intact. My bike comes secure.
Assembling, one major problem: the rear rack comes twisted and has bent 'legs.'
Rack is factory installed. The bottom rack legs are mounted. Unfortunately, the top rack is left 'hanging' free. Strangely, the top rack screws are in place – screwed into the bike frame. That indicates partially installed rack. During the expected shipping-jostling, the top rack is pounded and twisted.
Email to Engwe support: can't install rack. Please, make good. A couple of replies go back and forth. No results.
Going in circles and frustrated, I'm pissed. Last night, I email them how I feel. I don't hit the brakes and they get no breaks.
'I'm too old and don't have time for these 'more pictures & videos' shenanigans. I want a rack and if necessary, I'll buy one. And I'll buy a front rack. I got Engwe two more sales and two more interested. I'm not a YouTube reviewer. Instead, I'm free advertising. And I did mention that their support looks thin, others are having the problem, a forum is watching and, for better or worse, I'm telling.'
In 8 hours, they want to verify my shipping address to ship a new rear rack.
Will my rack show up? Will update when/if the new L20 2.0 rack arrives.
If so; awesome bike. No; not a top speed contender. I live in a city with convoluted streets with aggressive drivers that hates bikes and love themselves. This 'sprinter' bike is perfect.
My L20 2.0 startles drivers. Its off-the-line extra torque quickly and sensibly gives me the advantage of beating cars across the intersection and sailing comfortably. The bike maneuvers and its bigger 180mm brakes means quick stops. Hydraulic brakes are overrated. If you have ever pinched or scraped a bike's hydraulic brake tube, you know what eventually happens. Big worries and bigger problems. It can be a costly nightmare. From a dead stop, the L20 easily takes on bunny hills. The bike wants to be assertive. Still early: also looks like it has really good range.
Is the sprint action the advantage of running 52V, more torque, lighter frame & wheel weight? Nevertheless, the bike has the right stuff and I'm happy with its price: $699, free shipping and no tax.
