Wowie, terrific deal. This will almost match a 5800X3D right?

5% slower than the 5800x3D.
Biggest thing is... if you play 1080p/1440p then you'll benefit from the 3D cache. If you play 4k though, you'll be GPU limited so this wouldn't make too big of an impact versus, other than 1% lows if you had a 5000 series CPU already.

Great deal for shipping. If you're near a Micro Center, my local one has this for $189.99.

Until you play a game like COD with a 100+ in Battle Royale, and you don't want crazy FPS swings from all of the simultaneous explosions, and other chaos occurring.

I did a comparison between my 5600 vs 5700x3d. @4k the only thing that really benefits is my 1% lows in games. The FPS is only a few frames lower.

I ended up returning the 5700x3d.
I find this interesting. presumably you did some research before you made the upgrade? If you did, were you not seeing the same results as advertised? And what sort if increase were you hoping to see? Last question because I think this is useful for others. What GPU do you have?

Ryzen 5 5600
Powercolor 6900 XT
32GB DDR4 3200 RAM @14T timings

Was looking for a bit more jump in FPS and better 1% lows (this checked out). But after going through the games I play (an assortment of single player and multi-player games), I just concluded the "upgrade" wasn't big enough to justify plunging $200+ bucks. I only game on my desktop, so the additional cores were nice but not needed.

The 1% lows really only bothered me playing Apex Legends and other high FPS games. And I've stopped playing them recently and just playing single player games on 4k high settings, which means much lower average FPS, GPU bound, and less opportunity for the CPU to stutter.

I'm thinking that waiting for an even lower price isn't a good bet because the new Ryzen 9000 Series Zen 5 release is next month. So I assume production of these will end soon, something AMD never announces, as this Zen 3 CPU will now be two generations old. Prices tend to rise after production ends.

I don't need this yet as I don't do competitive high refresh rate gaming so I game at 4k, but I'm hoping that it will extend the lifespan of my computer to work with future 3nm GPU's like Nvidia 6000 series before ever needing to upgrade my mobo. Maybe I can stretch future CPU upgrade to future AM6 platform or budget AM5. CPU's just for 4k gaming seem to be way faster than needed. At least lately, though it will be interesting to see if games start using the CPU AI functions in new CPU's. Or will GPU handle gaming AI?

Unfortunately I assume I can't reuse my AMD Stealth Wraith cooler that came with my CPU. I assume it will get close to 90 celsius under full load. This 5700x3d doesn't come with a cooler.

Thermalright makes some really good budget coolers that go for under $20 on Amazon.

This one has five heatpipes: Thermalright Assassin King 12 SE $16.99 [amazon.com] or one with ARGB fan for $0.60 more.
