Biggest thing is... if you play 1080p/1440p then you'll benefit from the 3D cache. If you play 4k though, you'll be GPU limited so this wouldn't make too big of an impact versus, other than 1% lows if you had a 5000 series CPU already.

I ended up returning the 5700x3d.
Powercolor 6900 XT
32GB DDR4 3200 RAM @14T timings
Was looking for a bit more jump in FPS and better 1% lows (this checked out). But after going through the games I play (an assortment of single player and multi-player games), I just concluded the "upgrade" wasn't big enough to justify plunging $200+ bucks. I only game on my desktop, so the additional cores were nice but not needed.

I don't need this yet as I don't do competitive high refresh rate gaming so I game at 4k, but I'm hoping that it will extend the lifespan of my computer to work with future 3nm GPU's like Nvidia 6000 series before ever needing to upgrade my mobo. Maybe I can stretch future CPU upgrade to future AM6 platform or budget AM5. CPU's just for 4k gaming seem to be way faster than needed. At least lately, though it will be interesting to see if games start using the CPU AI functions in new CPU's. Or will GPU handle gaming AI?
Unfortunately I assume I can't reuse my AMD Stealth Wraith cooler that came with my CPU. I assume it will get close to 90 celsius under full load. This 5700x3d doesn't come with a cooler.
