In CA after July 1, the "service fee" will be illegal. So, they will likely just triple the price of entrées.
Never used it, never will.

GrubHub+ is pretty much useless now a days with 'zero' coupons and discounts and highly inflated (I have seen almost 40%+ more) pricing for the same items in a restaurant compared to in-store pricing. Not to mention, added tips for the drivers.

My Last GrubHub+ order of $62 it said I 'saved' $9.62 with Grubhub+, but there already a 10-30% markup per item than the dine-in/pickup price. And I still had $6.15 of 'other' fees: $4.15 'service' fee and $2 driver benefit fee (this is not the driver tip).

Items: $51.85
Delivery Fee with Prime: $0.00
Other fees with Prime: $6.15
Tax: $5.22
Driver Tip: $2
Total: $65.22

It's all smoke and mirrors. Delivery is free, but there is this other fee, wink wink.

Wow can't wait to find out what they do!

50% mark up on dine in pricing is my guess
Probably not "Dine IN" but the Grub Hunb and Uber etc. delivery prices will go up. Uber is STILL saying they are not profitable. Lol.
FWIW, when the $20 minimum wage for fast food workers kicked in, In-n-out (which already paid $18.75 to start and provides benefits, in addition to providing SUPERIOR fast food that costs less than McDonalds) raised prices on burgers by .10 to .30. No raise on fries and .10 on drinks. That's it. Fine. I'm fine with that.
Food delivery companies who fee you to DEATH and don't pay drivers fairly? Nope.
Again, never did it, never will.

These delivery services are a scam. Not only do they charge for delivery or delivery subscription, not only do they charge a "service fee", not only do they not pay the drivers much of anything which is why tips are required but on top of all of that, the prices on all the food is raised 30%+. Yet with all of these charges and wiggling out of paying for anything, they still don't even make a profit. I can only suspect it's a pyramid scheme.

The local pizza shop still sends one of their in-house guys for delivery. I live about 2 miles away.
I tip $5-$6 per pizza as I see it as a "lazy tax" I give myself for not going to get it. laugh out loud
Also, we know him, he gets paid his hourly wage to be there anyway making sauce and enjoys the cash tip. Great. I remember when more restaurants did that, and I wish they would go back to doing that.

A lot of comments about the negatives of Grubhub, but I want to note that customer service is generally no questions asked for wrong orders.

There's no service fee if you order for pickup - so the best use is still amex gold plus coupon. Grubhub is the only platform that allows coupons on pickup orders.

Of course find a store that also raised their in-store prices to be the same. Very common here.

Yeah tipping in advance on:

1) The hopes for a correct order
2) The hope for warm food
3) The Hope for a reasonable timed delivery

That's a lot of hope to tip blindly 😂
You call it "tipping in advance." The rest of us call it a bribe.

Tips are for services rendered....

But that's just pizza. Delivery services allow other types of restaurants to offer delivery.

The restaurant should be absorbing the cost of the added exposure of their product rather than the end user.
Sadly they already do.
These platforms DOUBLE DIP!
Ask any of the independent mom and pop restaurants.

I rather they just lower the cost.
Get used to higher prices. People love the idea of higher wages but get upset about higher prices.

Yea. It's the first time in 12 years that I am without Prime. We are attempting to hold out as much as possible and see how much we miss it.

Because they can always charge it back to the restaurant or the delivery guy for any issues.

Overpriced bullshit, and you still need to tip, so it's almost double the price of going to pick it up yourself.

Who uses GrubHub these days? Its been pretty dead to me.
I have an Amex Gold card that gives $10 a month credit for GH.

Not everyone's circumstances are the same as yours. My favorite pizza place doesn't have a surcharge to order through GH. This free GH+ also gives 5% back if you pick up which I prefer to do since most places I order from are less than a mile away. So that pays for my gas to pick up.
