I'm skeptical of mine because of the significant difference in weight between the Nordstrom and Amazon version , but both packages appear identical.

You can probably guess which one I am keeping.

I weighed the entire bottle, unopened with the plastic wrap on it.

The batch codes have absolutely nothing to indicate legitimacy -- a batch code is literally that, a number to indicate it's from "the batch made in December 2020" so if there's a problem, they can trace it back. It's not a unique code and is also printed on the boxes, so it's not a secret by any means. A batch code could contain 1000, 100,000 or 1,000,000 bottles (all with the same code)
If someone is willing to fake a bottle, box, fragrance, etc.. the batch code is probably the easiest part to fake
EDIT: From a consumer point, the value of the batch code is.. to tell which batch it's from!
While a fragrance SHOULD remain the same form batch-to-batch (just like how a bottle of Pepsi from Jan 2024 and Feb 2024 should have the same taste), with fragrances.. they undergo reformulations, differences in quality of materials (mostly when dealing with "naturals" and not chemicals), and changes of materials entirely.
For example: Various chemicals get banned in the EU commonly, and need to be removed from fragrances. So they'll replace it with another one.. that new one might affect the scent, or even the longevity of it (the last one lasted 10 hours, this new one only lasted 6 hours! -- or vice versa, sometimes replacement chemicals will actually BETTER a fragrance).
Fragrances also get reformulated to include more alcohol than oils, so an older batch of Parfums De Marly may have 22% Fragrance oils, new batches only have 18% fragrance oils, but have the same name, same concentration (EDP), etc..
With "Creed Aventus", people will go on for days about batch differences.. some are more SMOKY, some are more pineapple'y, some are "beast mode" and some are "weak sauce"
In general, people tend to prefer OLDER batches (a 2016 batch over the 2024 batch) even if it's the same fragrance.. as the older ones may have had higher quality materials, and may have "macerated" more and be a bit better on longevity.
tldr: Batch codes can be useful to end-users and to the companies, but they shouldn't be used to determine legitimacy
