FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.
I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…
TLDR; read, and follow instructions.
You probably missed it, but you can indeed get your device back if they lowball your offer.

What about the trading deals for 8 pro that will come once 9, 10 etc comes out? Won't those tempt you making the 8 years on 8 irrelevant.
Also, the reason why Google did the whole "8 years of updates" is because the consensus seems to be that cellphone manufacturers are realizing they are hitting a roadblock in terms of technology. Chipsets are 4nm this generation. Next gen will be 2nm. Can they go smaller than 2nm? Maybe, but it probably will be 1.5nm if it's even possible. They are hitting a theoretical limit. The next evolution is coming on the software side of things. They can process data on THEIR servers and send it to your phone. More cloud computing. That's what Google is starting to push with their Google 8 lineup. We are starting to see the beginning of this shift. I think this era of cellphones is coming to an end. Things probably start moving to bendy/flexible cellphones. Those bendy screens that seem indestructible. I imagine that will get quite expensive since it will be new technolgy.

500 off is for a Google fi plan sign up
250 off pixel 8 pro is for both a Google fi plan and a phone not on a plan, plus a trade in opportunity (Google's trade ins usually suck apart from when a new phone launches and there are often some good deals)
You my friend need to read better and look at all the options before trying to sound all high and mighty.
I went through the process and it does not need a Fi plan. Pixel 7 Pro gives $500 credit as the title correctly states.
So cowgirl, my friend, your response needs some work.

Thank you all as always for noting the id.me discount, I had no idea it was a thing. The extra $100 off pushed me over the edge to get this.
Came out as follows:
$999 - 349.90 (id.me took 10% off the base price + $250 sale) + tax = $689.67
- $500 tradein will make it $189.67
PLUS $64.91 in store credit from a 2 month free trial of Google One Gemini. Check out if you may have a trial option, it was offered to me in GMail maybe 2-4 weeks ago and I just activated it.

But as of now, the 7 Pro still seems to be more than capable for the next 1-3 years until a more drastic Pixel flagship is released (e.g., Surface Pro Copilot+ and the new Qualcomm SoC levels of improvement)
Meh not worth it..Good for Pixel 7 pro tho
