FYI - they outsource trade-ins to another company. You get the trade-in box in a separate shipment.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you don't reset device as instructed this may hurt the trade-in value. There is also no way to get your trade-in back if the 3rd party lowballs your trade-in.

I made this mistake with the recent iPad trade-in deal. I missed a reset step, and had messed up something on the trade-in form. In the end, I got $4 for my trade-in and couldn't get my device back…

TLDR; read, and follow instructions.

There is a checkbox that's automatically checked that states "Accept the new value if it changes after inspection (uncheck to get your device back without credit)"

You probably missed it, but you can indeed get your device back if they lowball your offer.

For anyone that qualifies, you can get an extra 10% off through id.me if you work for the govt or other qualifying service sectors. It stacks with this trade in and discount promo.

True. But are you going to keep it for 8 years esp if you can't keep 7 for 1 year?

What about the trading deals for 8 pro that will come once 9, 10 etc comes out? Won't those tempt you making the 8 years on 8 irrelevant.
The point being that it should hold its trade-in value much better. Who will want a 7 in the future when an 8 will have the latest Android for years to come?

Also, the reason why Google did the whole "8 years of updates" is because the consensus seems to be that cellphone manufacturers are realizing they are hitting a roadblock in terms of technology. Chipsets are 4nm this generation. Next gen will be 2nm. Can they go smaller than 2nm? Maybe, but it probably will be 1.5nm if it's even possible. They are hitting a theoretical limit. The next evolution is coming on the software side of things. They can process data on THEIR servers and send it to your phone. More cloud computing. That's what Google is starting to push with their Google 8 lineup. We are starting to see the beginning of this shift. I think this era of cellphones is coming to an end. Things probably start moving to bendy/flexible cellphones. Those bendy screens that seem indestructible. I imagine that will get quite expensive since it will be new technolgy.

$330 trade in value for a Pixel 7. Is that good, or probably will be the same by fall?

Good deal only if the trade in value for your phone is $500.

Tip: Use your Capital One credit card for an additional 4% cashback. Make sure to go from the relevant offer page.

That title really needs some work my friend.

500 off is for a Google fi plan sign up

250 off pixel 8 pro is for both a Google fi plan and a phone not on a plan, plus a trade in opportunity (Google's trade ins usually suck apart from when a new phone launches and there are often some good deals)

You my friend need to read better and look at all the options before trying to sound all high and mighty.

I went through the process and it does not need a Fi plan. Pixel 7 Pro gives $500 credit as the title correctly states.

So cowgirl, my friend, your response needs some work.

The terms of the trade in amount are vague. It says nothing about screen scratches. It just asks if the phone turns on and if it's free of drops. I have one hard to see scratch on the screen from my thumbnail touching the fingerprint reader. Would I get the full $500?

it's not stackable. id.me also generates you a coupon code and I believe it's only one coupon code per order.

In the order process, at trade-in selection, they have a checkbox to "unselect" to return phone if the appraised value do not match the quoted value.

Currently using a 7pro and after trading it in and with the discount from ID.me, the total is about $212. Any reason why I should not proceed with the purchase?

I had the 7 pro upon launch. I don't like it. Anybody else don't like it? Mine overheats a lot especially when I charge it. I sometimes have to disconnect it from my car charger b/c it gets too hot. Once in awhile it auto shuts off due to the overheating issue. When the phone is overheating its much slower too. I was thinking of going back to galaxy.

Can confirm as I have both codes - it is not stackable. Also note id.me states only one code can be used per year, and the current one was generated expires July 31. So make sure you want to do it before generating!

Thank you all as always for noting the id.me discount, I had no idea it was a thing. The extra $100 off pushed me over the edge to get this.

Came out as follows:

$999 - 349.90 (id.me took 10% off the base price + $250 sale) + tax = $689.67

- $500 tradein will make it $189.67

PLUS $64.91 in store credit from a 2 month free trial of Google One Gemini. Check out if you may have a trial option, it was offered to me in GMail maybe 2-4 weeks ago and I just activated it.

In the same boat - some incremental upgrades (Flagship gemini versus keeping assistant). The $300+ cost for the 8 Pro just seems more of a hassle - ill wait for the 9 to see if theres any good deals.

But as of now, the 7 Pro still seems to be more than capable for the next 1-3 years until a more drastic Pixel flagship is released (e.g., Surface Pro Copilot+ and the new Qualcomm SoC levels of improvement)

$330 for a regular 7, I am somewhat tempted.
I have a Pixel 7 as well and I'm not sure it's worth paying $420 to upgrade to an 8 Pro. Probably won't ever get more for my Pixel 7 though...
