I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

Anyone purchased iphone froM Costco before? Do I need to activate it at the time of purchase? Costco offers a 90 day refund policy, and the new iphone 16 is coming soon, so I believe there will be even better deals available. I want to buy it now but not use it immediately for return if needed

Trade in values are much lower than what Apple gives you.
This is only a decent deal for those that always buy Applecare+ with their new phones.

iphone 16 will be announced in September which is 3 months away unless plan to return it within 90 days paying MSRP for phone this late is not a deal just to get applecare.

You don't have to activate the new phone since you're not buying any cellphone plans with the device. Also AppleCare+ won't start until the phone is powered on and connected to Apple's network at least once.

The Apple Store did/does. I traded an unlocked Pixel 4a for an Unlocked 13 Mini when the 2nd gen SE was revealed. Not sure if they are still doing it, but Apple gave me a better value on the 4a than Best Buy, Gazelle, etc.
