I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

Just checked what Costco would give me on a shop card lol I can get $200 extra on FB Marketplace or Craigslist .



Would love more information on getting apple care + refund to make it extra slick

They don't, you just have to pay by card before the due date... No auto pay with card

Do I need to have purchased the phone with the Amex card? If I use the Amex card to pay my cell phone bill, does that benefit apply to all phones on the account (I have a family plan with 5 lines, all paid off, two currently have iPhone 12 Pros, the other 3 have iPhone SE 3rd gen)?

What type of a good deal are you looking for?

For T-mo, anyway, you can get iPhone 15 "free" with 24 months of bill credits with trade-in of iPhone 11 or better. That works with their top plans for existing lines, and nearly any plan if you're adding a new line.

And I think you can still get iPhone 11 for $100 from Total by Verizon.

$1k+ is only for flagships though. Plenty of mid range and budget phones (even by Apple such as the SE) are available for less.

Phone technology developments from year-to-year/generation-to-generation aren't as drastic as they were 10-15 years ago so most people don't upgrade every year or two anyways.
