I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

Nope. No need. My wife cracked her screen on her phone. The phone had been bought with another card years ago. The phone bills were auto paid through another credit card too. I switched the billing to my AMEX card. Waited a month, filed the insurance claim through AMEX, repaired the phone at Best Buy (can do Apple too), and they compensated me for the amount. It was great.

Call or chat (may also be an option online or in the app) to switch the physical SIM to an eSIM on the iPhone 15.

Same here, but this looks like the best we might get. Based on some quick searching, some people are saying Apple has not been allowing a refund on the AppleCare. So if we buy this, looks like we might be stuck with it.
