I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

Would love a deal on just the iPhone itself. I don't need AppleCare.
Just get the phone and cancel AppleCare.

I am new to iphones and i learn more on slickdeals because people summarize much better here.
If we don't need apple care, and go through t-mobile warranty, is that a better deal? I heard t-mobile will just give you a new phone if it cracks/breaks, vs apple care will try to fix and you are without a phone during that period?

Also with Care+ There are still fees?

Service fees and deductibles at a glance
Incidents covered

Screen or back glass7 damage

$29

Other accidental damage

$99

Theft or loss

$149
T-Mobile warranty is through Assurant and they suck. AppleCare is much more better. Assurant will make you wait forever and good luck reaching out to them.

Too expensive to my taste. Do not want to babysit that thing.

Why get a Pro phone with just 128gb? Insane. Can barely record 4K for videos or have too much of anything. Apple sheep are still asleep at the wheel, and getting robbed blind. Zero concept of value

I like iPhones and have used iPods since the shuffle. The userbase accepts anything.

From the recent research I've done, Apple hasn't been allowing refunds on AppleCare. Not sure how accurate that it is though. Have you done it recently?

Curious where did you find that they aren't allowing this anymore?

How is the value of Costco card determined?

A $40-$100 unlock phone can handle everything but why spending $1000?
Cause for many people, $1000 is just not much money compared to how much utility a phone gives. So even if it is a little bit better (and honestly compared to a $40-100 phone the newest iphone is A LOT better) a lot of people will find the premium worthwhile. Even if I do agree with you, a cheap phone will serve perfectly well.

Don't forget: if you have an Amex platinum card, you DO NOT need Applecare. They will pay for the repair or replacement of your phone up to $800. The condition is that your cell phone wireless bill must be paid by your amex card for at least 1 month. (this sucks cause tmobile removes discounts from your account if you use a credit card - forcing you to use a debit account).
Just prepay…doi…

Restricted app ecosystem to reduce shite and not allowing vomit inducing fonts and themes is worth that premium and more.

It was a few comments I saw on Reddit and Apple discussion forums. The comments were from 2023 though. I guess I could contact Apple to verify, but I was wondering if anyone here had done it recently.
