I think it has always been 24 months. The Sapphires I believe are 48 months.
You have to earn the 125k points in the same calendar year to get the companion pass. Best practice for companion pass is to get the Biz around Nov, complete your spend dec so your bonus points post in Jan. Also get the personal in Dec and complete your spend so your bonus posts in Jan. This way you get to keep the pass for a full 24 months.

Can you switch from an existing Rapid Rewards card to this one and still qualify?

How much is 85,000 points converted to statement credit? $850?

If I have a card right now and a balance of points, if I cancel that card, when I get a new card after 31 days, could I combine the previous points from the previous with a new card that I sign up for? I can wait 31 days, no problem.

Main question is: "preserving the points from the prior card and combining it with a new sign up after cancelling the previous card."

How long does it take for them to send you a response if you did not get instant approval when applied?

No, unfortunately Southwest has no partner airlines.

You can purchase flights on other airlines. I used mine on the southwest more rewards site. Got a sweet deal to barcelona for 250 rt from sfo

I have used this credit card for years and love it! We just got back from Kauai and was able to get 4 round trip tickets for free (except for taxes and airport fees, early bird boarding and the yearly fee)! I get enough points every year to get the companion pass for my wife so she flies free everywhere I go!

As far as I can tell they basically ghost you. That happened recently on a Chase Sapphire application, and now once again on a Chasa SWA application. Not sure why, as my credit is excellent.

you have to wait 24 months from the last time you received points till you sign up with a new one and you can't have any Southwest card for at least a month before you sign up again. You can have a business card at the same time though. The points got to your RR account so if you sign up with it they will go there

Charge the needed amount in the first month and pay it off including the fee before statement even closes. As soon as the points hit your account, cancel the card and the fee will be refunded

When you do this, Chase Bank can and have taken points back when you close before 6-8 months

Research you will see

I got immediate approval and the option to use the card right away (to buy Southwest airfare and vacations, of course). My credit report is locked with Experian I think and I haven't been able to get it unlocked (mostly for lack of trying, I think) and I was notified of that in this case but they approved me anyway. Maybe they checked a different agency or maybe they just skipped it. The card limit is only for 10K, but that's more than enough for any use of that card I'd ever have. Evidently, there are a number of factors they weigh. I have had two Priority cards over the past seven or eight or so years and this is the third. I have a high credit score and never put any effort into trying to manipulate the Chase/SWA offers beyond replacing the one card every few years.

In fact, I was planning to give up leisure travel altogether due to the cost and the fact that I'm all out of points and credits such that airfare would now have to be factored in, then they swoop down with this offer, a 70% bump in bonus points for spending money I was going to spend anyway. It's like they know what I'm thinking. It reminds me of Silvio on The Sopranos doing his "Godfather" schtick: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."
