Seller includes an adapter in case you run into this issue. I bought the 12tb model from them, and it's currently in my NAS now.

FWIW, The model WUH721414ALE604 has power disable pin 3 support, which may not play nicely with NAS servers. There are ways around it, google "hack on the SATA connector pin #3"

E604 = 512e SATA 6Gb/s + Power disable pin 3 support + no encryption

Newegg will go out of their way to protect and enable shady/shitty sellers, and their support is terrible. Though this particular seller is fine, I'd try to find their listings somewhere else rather than support Newegg in any way.

Any advantages of this drive vs the Ultrastar 10gb deal posted previously (minus the capacity)?

Age. Larger tends to be younger.

I would use these (at least two to duplicate data) for cold storage of backups and/or church service videos.

(Since there are no decent sales on easyStores. Fortunately I did grab a couple of the 18TBs for $200 back when. It could be quite a while before the 22TBs reach a comparable price, ~$250.)

(I put the easyStores on top of case fans (120 or 140 mm on threaded spacers/standoffs) blowing up.)

As such I would put these in Orico docks I have:

https://www.newegg.com/orico-6619...1DS5B07249

and

https://www.newegg.com/orico-6619...1DS28Y2007

Does anybody know off the top of their heads if these docks present 3.3V on pin 3? If so, the drives won't work.

(To save me from having to probe the docks with a multimeter.)

(One thing I don't like about these deals with the SMART data wiped, it is like buying a used car with the odometer rolled back to zero and the CARFAX/VIN data deleted. What are they trying to hide? If the drive has 50,000 hours on it, so be it.)

As far as I know docks have always worked with these drives, I have both orico docks and doored enclosures

Every report I've seen with these 14TB WD drives has indicated that smart data was not erased, and that aligns with my own experience. Also none of these drives have 50,000 hours, that's nearly 6 years. More typical is 25-30k hours.

Edit: I see now that the listing has an image that does say 5-6 years of use. Unsure if that's because these are a different batch of drives or just because that's a boilerplate image they use for used hard drive sales. It's definitely not what people were reporting seeing from the SMART data in previous 14TB HC530 sales.

They always say the max years to cover their ass but its usually lower on larger drives

And yes the smart isn't wiped.

Yea?.. I never said they weren't. You seem to have missed the entire point, but I guess I could sum it up here:

Newegg sucks and should be avoided.

No its just confirmation bias from youtube and reddit clickbait.

Server parts deals and goharddrive are long time reliable sources.

Unless you are dealing with high scam rate motherboards/video cards online retailers are mostly fine.

You're still completely missing the point... I never said anything bad about goharddrive. I've made purchases from them via other marketplaces and been perfectly happy with what I received from them.

Newegg is a shit company though who will gladly support shitty sellers and literal scammers, and many people do not want to support a company like that in any way. It's not "confirmation bias" when I've seen what their sellers do myself, and what Newegg has done to protect them.

Those other market places also have scammers, so I'm not sure what you are talking about, goharddrive and serverpartsdeals also sell on ebay and amazon, and everyone knows, so do scammers.

In for 2. I bought an 8 bay NAS and this is my first go around. So I'll use 2 drives for now to see how this all works. I think I bought too large of a NAS but everyone kept telling it's like a gun safe, always get bigger than you think.

Will this work in a two bay synology nas? I think my drives slide in and lock into a back plane connector. No wires. So sounds like these drives will not work in that style of Synology nas?
