You're still wrong. I have a V4 and can review footage from the SD card.
Click "SD Card" and you can select what time you want to see.

Works better than it did in the past. Not sure if thats a software update or the newer camera.

I like the new v4. Each version has slightly different things about it. The v4 has twice the resolution, which means the feed looks better than the v3, but you won't be reading license plates at distance. The v4 has good color, meaning pretty true, slightly warmer than the v3. The v4 does not have the near infrared led option like the v3 has, so it has 4 dim red LEDs when seen at night. The v4 has a smart zoom feature that can be toggled. If there's motion within it's view, it automatically zooms in on it and follows it (pretty well, not real smooth though). It leaves a little picture in picture when this is activated, to show where in the field of view you're zoomed in on. I think the v4 loads about the same speed as the v3. So the OG cam still has has it beat as the fastest to pull up live view. But the OG is pretty quirky in my experience. Color balance is just a little weird, I get double notifications a lot if the subscription is activated for it, and I don't care for the vertical sd card scrolling. The v4 has the vertical scrolling, too. I can't compare the v3 on this because I currently don't have an SD card in the v3. I just recently set it back up to view my fish, lol.

The v4 is unreliable.
Check out Reddit for people's experiences.
Over the past few days, my camera has been offline - regardless of several power cycles for troubleshooting.
I'm glad I just use it to check in on my dog when I'm at work - I'd be annoyed if it was for anything important.
My Doorbell v2, floodlight pro, and v3s are working just fine.

Ack! Good thing I just bought one for $35 at Home Depot not 12 hours ago. Doh. Oh well, I guess I need to hurry up and test it out see if I need to get more.

How are these for those who have tried them out? I'm using v3 cams now all around. Heard they're worth the upgrade.

Also- my current v3 cams are mounted around my property in these little mount cases. Has the form factor changed enough to make those not work? Maybe the power cord changed places? They're pretty tight fitting so I imagine it wouldn't take much change to make them not fit.

Kinda makes me think of Apple and how they change the connectors and all that every few generations so you have to buy new adapters and cords haha… oh well. At least these I can reprogram via Bluetooth once they go up.

In for 4, anyway. Thank you for the post!
To answer my own question I had a couple minutes before leaving for work and happened to have the new cam and an extra one of my mounts.

The camera I think moved the power cord but the dangling part was long and flat enough to fit it through the v3 cutout.

It BARELY fit into the cubby. Like I had to push it in with medium force. To the point where now I'm not sure how I could get the camera out of it without breaking the mount from around it. It's extremely snug.

The only thing that didn't fit was the front plate that keeps it in the mount. The rounded lens shape that's on this version protrudes and doesn't let it go flush. But it's not a huge issue because a dremel and a tiny bit of rounding around the square cutout will make for a perfect fit. So the verdict is, at least in my case- yes it will retrofit in my old v3 mounts.

The camera setup was fast and super streamlined and one thing I really like on top of the hardware is the interface is different- it now shows your timeline on the same page as the live view which is very nice.

Anyhow. Haven't had more time than that but so far 100% worth $25 and even $35. I will be replacing my v3's.

Thanks again!

Are the Wyze v4's compatible with Cam Plus Lite? I'm grandfathered into that older plan and thus far have been able to resist paying their hosting fees.
No is not compatible. They stopped allowing you to transfer it over starting at the v4 cameras. Wyze has some "technical" excuse

V3 was recommended to spot rodent activity in crawl/attic spaces, so hoping the V4, regardless of issues people seem to have on reddit, will work out well. Trying to see how they are getting in.

However, I am seeing that motion is locked behind the subscription, is this true?

May be what "TheTomSawyer" mean is for v4 WITHOUT pay subscription, the notification you get is only a photo and no 12-second Event recordings. Plus there is a motion trigger cool down of 5 mins between each trigger.
Also need to remember v4 not compatible with Cam Plus Lite free option.

And you can't click on the notification to bring you directly to the footage stored in the SD card. So it is an extra steps to memorize the motion trigger time and then go to the SD Card storage to try find the exact time location that trigger the notification by swiping left and right on the time bar and not as easy to get to the exact second by swiping.
Unlike Eufy Tapo/Kasa security camera which even without paid subscription, you can click on the motion trigger notification and it will directly take you to the recorded footage at the right time.

Based on the case I used, I could get the v4 camera in but then it was stuck. I ended up having to cut plastic rails in the inside of it and then cut a hole in the bottom to work the camera out. That being said, I decided to keep using it until a v4 version is released. I just put a piece of tape on the bottom to keep the face of the case on.

Hey Phoenix do you get paid to find and post deals? Or just doing it for fun?
Do you ask because of the flood of crappy Amazon deals posted by staff?

The 5 minute cooldown is going to kill you if you don't want to pay Wyze for the subscription… just get an Eufy cam, that's what I've been using to track mice in my basement drop ceiling.

Wyze got greedy a long time ago, then continued to grow that greed… as is evident with the stupid v4 Cam Plus Lite removal. I was with them when they first came out, great and cheap product… they just got left behind by all the other Chinese companies, finally adding 2K is hilarious too 😂

Not true. I've been running OG cameras for years on sd cards and have never paid a dime to any subscription services.

Better video quality and better night/dark performance.

I have the V3, V3 Pro, and V4. The V3 is good but the V4 is a nice upgrade.

I'm not a fan of Wyze, the cameras get burn in easier than other cameras. Anyone have this issue or know if v4 fixed it? At the end of the day it is a cheap camera that has its uses

This is not true, I just opened the app and watched playback from SD.

I picked up 2 of these back in March and they are NOT an upgrade. They ruined workflow in a bid for subscriptions, the massive compression of video negates the sensor improvements and SD content is not only difficult to get at but there are often huge gaps in the app. I'll admit I haven't pulled the SD cards to see if that's only the app but do you really want a cam that you need to pull cards for?

I have read comments that the audio is improved but I don't use that feature.

Now that I am on the staff it is both. But for more than a year I could not benefit from almost any deals that I post - Amazon locked me out of my account. Still I already got hooked on the gratitude from the community and continued to contribute.
Sounds like my case, I was a top 100 reviewer but they revoked my reviewing permissions due to suspected fake reviews. I just literally reviewed everything I purchased and enjoyed doing the reviews. Its a bad system they have.
