You're still wrong. I have a V4 and can review footage from the SD card.
Click "SD Card" and you can select what time you want to see.

Works better than it did in the past. Not sure if thats a software update or the newer camera.

I like the new v4. Each version has slightly different things about it. The v4 has twice the resolution, which means the feed looks better than the v3, but you won't be reading license plates at distance. The v4 has good color, meaning pretty true, slightly warmer than the v3. The v4 does not have the near infrared led option like the v3 has, so it has 4 dim red LEDs when seen at night. The v4 has a smart zoom feature that can be toggled. If there's motion within it's view, it automatically zooms in on it and follows it (pretty well, not real smooth though). It leaves a little picture in picture when this is activated, to show where in the field of view you're zoomed in on. I think the v4 loads about the same speed as the v3. So the OG cam still has has it beat as the fastest to pull up live view. But the OG is pretty quirky in my experience. Color balance is just a little weird, I get double notifications a lot if the subscription is activated for it, and I don't care for the vertical sd card scrolling. The v4 has the vertical scrolling, too. I can't compare the v3 on this because I currently don't have an SD card in the v3. I just recently set it back up to view my fish, lol.

The v4 is unreliable.
Check out Reddit for people's experiences.
Over the past few days, my camera has been offline - regardless of several power cycles for troubleshooting.
I'm glad I just use it to check in on my dog when I'm at work - I'd be annoyed if it was for anything important.
My Doorbell v2, floodlight pro, and v3s are working just fine.

Anyone know if this can be plugged into a regular outdoor electrical outlet?

if it's protected from the elements, I don't see why not. I have mine plugged in *inside* the house, and then they run to the outside through the windows using completely flat usb cables that leave no gap when in the 'closed' position. The cameras have worked for years (V2, V3 , and now V4) like this.

After reading through this thread, I'm almost ready to give TP-Link Tapo cameras a shot, just need to convince myself to buy just 1 first.

My inventory of Wyze stuff, just going through everything in my Wyze App:
  • 2 OG Cams - one near, one zoomed - both not powered on because they they cause my 2.4 Ghz wifi serious interruptions to the point where I can't get through 1 song over AirPlay to my older Bose airlink speakers. Turn off the OG Cams, network becomes stable again.
  • 3 V3 Cams
  • 2 Pan Cam V3
  • 1 V4 Cam
  • 1 Doorbell V2 - Doesn't work with physical chime. My original V1 did, though.
  • 1 Garage V3 Cam + Opener - Contacts soldered to a "clicker" since it didn't work wired to the garage door.
  • 1 Wyze Sense Hub V2 - replaced the V1 because the sensors all died after their batteries ran out.
  • 6 Temperature Sensors
  • 6 Contact Closure sensors
  • 3 Leak sensors
  • 4 Motion sensors - When I replaced the battery in one of these, it started making all-day false detections. Had to leave it unpowered for a week and delete and re-add to the app to get it working right again.
  • 1 Wyze Lock with keypad
  • 3 Smart Plugs - controlled by some of the motion sensors.
  • Cam Unlimited Subscription
After all this, I think the worst thing for me is the one time I needed footage of a mail thief, there was a gap in the local sd card storage right at a critical moment. Any time someone rings the doorbell, the app is almost never able to pull up the live camera view. I figured it was weak wifi, so got a completely separate Wifi Mesh network just for cameras. No improvement.
I wouldn't go as far as saying angry words like, "Wyze is garbage." -- but I will say that after all the time and effort I put into this system, I have no trust in any reliability, and the only thing keeping me from unplugging everything and throwing it away is my inherent Slickdealer mindset of not wanting to waste money. Sunk cost fallacy and all... I paid money and time for this stuff and I'm not just shutting it all off now!

I do have a lot of TP-Link smart switches and plugs though, which is why I'm willing to give the Tapo cams a try. I'm just not all that excited of having to re-build my collection, spending time and money.

I still have the Wyze bridge in a V2 camera with 2 door sensors that are still working. The motion sensor died over a year ago after the battery died. I am totally surprised the door sensors still work!

Without a subscription, are you able to get videos off the SD card via your PC (e.g. connect to network device and copy mp4 files over)? Or do you have to physically remove the SD card/plug into PC to view them?

Funny, it was the door sensors that died for me on the Wyze bridge in a V2 camera system for me! The frugality of the slickdealer in me was very disappointed when these sensors ended up being essentially "disposable" Frown

You seem to know your wyze cams pretty well. Do you have experience with their outdoor cams?
I have two of their outdoor cams (a v1 and a v2) and the base station. I tried putting sims in the base station and in the cameras themselves, but for the life of me I cannot figure out a way to get them to record. Even just events don't get recorded. I get a notification that there has been an event and when I go to check, on the V1 cam I get a 7s clip, and on the V2 I just get a photo from the event, but no video. I've tried looking through every conceivable option I can find. Am I just still missing it or am I SOL if I don't pay for the services?
FWIW I have the indoor cams and they work just fine recording to SD.

Can you view the thumbnail from notification, that way you go to the certain even, or have to scroll to find the event.

Without subscription, the biggest issue is 5-min cool down. If someone walk by your camera and trigger the motion detection, when a real thief walk by within 5 mins and steal your package outside your door, you won't get any notification about that since it is within the 5-min cool down. And you don't get any AI detection features neither.

Also, without subscription, I believe the notification you get is only a photo and no 12-second Event recordings. Let assume you have 24/7 SD card recording turned on. Even that, you can't click on the notification to bring you directly to the footage stored in the SD card. So it is an extra steps to memorize the motion trigger time and then go to the SD Card storage to try find the exact time that trigger the notification by swiping left and right on the time bar in the APP and not as easy to get to the exact second by swiping. And once you swipe and get to the location in the time bar, I believe you need to hit recording to record the potion of the video you want into a file that you can download from your phone/device to your PC(?)

Bought the gray one to replace my black v2 at the front door. I was actually pleased to find it still uses MicroUSB for power so that I don't have to replace the existing cable. I am assuming it can use the existing magnet I have mounted above the door.
So do you have this instead of a ring door cam?

Same here, have 3x V3s outside (1x under porch, 2x completely exposed using vinyl siding mounts form Amazon) and had zero issues for two years now! Used the included flat usb cables and extender cables, popped through my window screens and under the window no issues in the winter time either. I love these little guys!

fyi the v4 isn't supported by wz mini hacks yet so I'll probably wait to buy one until that happens (if ever)

I'd like to know this as well. Awhile back I tried (via some instructions on how to run Wyze on Windows) to install an Android emulator on PC and then tried to install an APK of the Wyze software on PC. I got errors and it never worked.

I don't think I'm too bothered by the lack of notifications and difficulty around reconciling events with the correct timestamp in the video, but reading up on this camera, it seems like it doesnt support RTSP which appears to be necessary for how I was planning to use it (basically just a realtime camera feed). For $25 I'm still willing to try it out though
