You're still wrong. I have a V4 and can review footage from the SD card.
Click "SD Card" and you can select what time you want to see.

Works better than it did in the past. Not sure if thats a software update or the newer camera.

I like the new v4. Each version has slightly different things about it. The v4 has twice the resolution, which means the feed looks better than the v3, but you won't be reading license plates at distance. The v4 has good color, meaning pretty true, slightly warmer than the v3. The v4 does not have the near infrared led option like the v3 has, so it has 4 dim red LEDs when seen at night. The v4 has a smart zoom feature that can be toggled. If there's motion within it's view, it automatically zooms in on it and follows it (pretty well, not real smooth though). It leaves a little picture in picture when this is activated, to show where in the field of view you're zoomed in on. I think the v4 loads about the same speed as the v3. So the OG cam still has has it beat as the fastest to pull up live view. But the OG is pretty quirky in my experience. Color balance is just a little weird, I get double notifications a lot if the subscription is activated for it, and I don't care for the vertical sd card scrolling. The v4 has the vertical scrolling, too. I can't compare the v3 on this because I currently don't have an SD card in the v3. I just recently set it back up to view my fish, lol.

The v4 is unreliable.
Check out Reddit for people's experiences.
Over the past few days, my camera has been offline - regardless of several power cycles for troubleshooting.
I'm glad I just use it to check in on my dog when I'm at work - I'd be annoyed if it was for anything important.
My Doorbell v2, floodlight pro, and v3s are working just fine.

Does the only V4 show clips when theres motion detected? I upgraded to the v3 pan and it only snaps pictures when theres motion. I dont plan on paying for a subscription.

No you need a subscription for that. If you have an SD card you can go back and watch the clip from the SD card but it's not as simple as just clicking on it from the thumbnail.

I bought the v4 to replace a working v3 that was looking at my driveway. I am returning the v4 since the image is way worse than the v3.
I also thought v4 was worse than v3 but I looked again today and the v4 is better - but just slightly. This is in daylight while the last time was at night, though, so might be situational.

Wyze doesn't allow even SD card playback with out subscription FYI.
While this isn't true, 5 minute notification cool downs locks unless you pay for the subscription is renders the security part weak so while you can playback video on your micro SD cards, you'll have to manually scrub for activity in between the first notification and next notification as the only markers; this includes their doorbells and as a person who's had their Amazon delivery guy deliver my fridge water filter with photo evidence in the app… only to return minutes later to take back the same package so I would to report it stolen, this "feature" may be ripe for malicious intent (I had a camera from a window on my second floor recording the entire incident),

Back when Wyze was still a fledgling customer centric company, they advertised on-camera person detection on their cameras. Then Apple acquired Xnor.ai which supplied this software feature and prevented Wyze from using it so Wyze scrambled for an in-house solution and created their Cam Plus Lite subscription for said feature as a courtesy to their customers at a name your price. Convinced me to buy 50+ everything but the kitchen sink line of products, even post COVID. But the cooldown feature got introduced after I bought 20+ OGs and Pan V3s during their Black Friday sale last year which also doesn't qualify for the Lite plan (Wyze Cam V3 is their last one) so it was a painful reminder that all companies eventually benefit their executives and shareholders, not customers.

They switched to picture still notifications unless you pay for the paid subscription. Chances are your V4 has video because you opted into the free trial upon setup

how dare a company benefit its owners/founders/innovators/risktakers. you may be taking the 'customer comes first' too literally, without understanding who coined the term.

I'm a huge fan of Wyze. While I did not like their paid subscription change, it makes sense for growth.
I started purchasing when they were just starting up. I believe I bought 4 original V1 cameras, replaced one with a V2, now have 2 Pan/Zoom, the doorbell, a fog/motion light with built in camera, along with another camera plugged into that for the opposite direction. In all, I believe I have 7 or 8 cameras covering non-living parts in and out of my house. By non-living, I mean bedrooms and of course bathrooms.

While I am at work, they are my dog camera so I can make sure they are not chewing anything up.

Of course, I have branched out to their robot vac, stick vaccuum, and scale.

Be aware that the SD Card is put inside the camera: If they steal the camera you lost your footage.
And therein lies the reason I am moving away from wyze. Rtsp is not something wyze supports. Well documented. I've used the v2s with alt firmware forever to keep this functionality so that the cheap camera or sd card could vaporize and I'd care none the same as it's stored elsewhere.

Does V4 work with the Echo Show? V3 never did (at least in my case only V2 works).

Has Wyze fixed all their security vulnerabilities and other issues that were discovered and left unpatched for years?

I have both yi home (super cheap cameras) and wyze v3 cameras outside my house. The yi home cameras are actually have better detection and viewing. The wyze cameras are almost unusable for me when doing motion captures. I don't care about the quality of the image if it can't simply detect movement without spamming my notifications.

Bummer you can't use this camera with cam plus lite subscription. I would have bought it otherwise.
