Yeah; I have two WYZE (other models)

The subscription-based business is a total BS.
End up you'll pay so much more, with the gimmick of selling cheap cameras to lure you from the beginning

That doesn't match what's on Wyze's website. Cam plus is $3 per month per camera. The $10 per month plan cover unlimited cameras

These suck. The base comes in view limiting view. You can mount upside down and flip view in settings but for some reason it limits even more of the view. Disconnects constantly for no reason to where you have to physically unplug it to reset it.
I had one upside down and it was perfect for where I had it, took the base totally out of the way, but unfortunately if outside this will allow water to get into the cam. I now have that one and another mounted right side up and unless you want to look straight down the base isn't a problem. If you want to look straight down, would be fairly easy to use a shim or something to mount it at like a 45 degree angle which should keep water out and allow it to look "down" more.

Only issue I have with them mounted rightside up is the night vision lights will glare off the base and wash out the image when you look down more than about 45 degrees or so, but a strip of matte black tape placed on top of the base solved that about 90%. The black camera probably solves this issue too, but haven't tried that one (it is hard to tell what will and won't reflect IR light without trial and error, something matte black and rough/uneven is the best bet).

Congrats. When I say, Echo show 'window', it always says "Hmmm....the camera is not responding."

All my V2 cams work with Echo Show 5.

I have had 3 v3 cams (all returned) and none of them worked with Echo Show.
The pan v3 is totally different from the regular v3. Significantly better in my experience.

However I've never found the "skills" for any of the echo devices to be reliable. Even when used with Blink cams, their own company, my neighbors frequently get that message.

Bought 2 of these and will return them. Should have done my research beforehand. There's currently no way to enable onvif or rtsp on these cameras, so you're stuck with their app.

You're thinking of Amazon Warehouse.

All Wyze cams, even ones you buy off their site, ship from Amazon. I've gotten 8, some from Amazon, some from Wyze directly, all shipped from Amazon. Even a warranty replacement they sent came from Amazon.

And yes this $30 price is not uncommon.
I bought items directly from Amazon that were sold as new but used or open-boxed. I don't think it matters to Amazon's inventory specialists.

That happens with every item on amazon from time to time. Not exclusive to Wyze and not nearly as common as you're implying.

From my experience, every Wyze camera comes from Amazon no matter where you order it from. All mine have been new and sealed.

Nothing after the v3 has rtsp firmware (and even before that, it was hacked firmware). If you're looking for RTSP support, Wyze definitely not the way to go.

No subscription is required, it is optional.
Dude, without the subscription, the feature is like almost nothing. It's a total garbage camera

They work great for me and have tons of features, I have no optional services or subscriptions, just SD cards. If you want/need the special "AI" detection features, its $20 a year per camera. But in that case a Eufy or other may make more sense, assuming it lasts long enough to justify the extra up front cost.

Wyze subscription based models was a bait and switch for those of us with wyze in the beginning. Don't waste your time with these.

What would be a good replacement for an OG wyzecam 2 that no longer works and need replacement? I have that free wyzecam cam lite plan which is fine.

i dont understand why no company has stepped up as the ultimate dyi hardware seller for self monitoring. theycould charge a bit more for the camerals than wyze, but couldl beome known as the gold standard for diy local network gear for home automation...
Unfortunately that is not how the world works. Businesses first tried planned obsolescence, items manufactured 50 years ago were lasting 50 years, they made products cheaper so they would break in 5 years and you would have to purchase them again. They now figured out it is better for them to rent us everything so they have a continuous stream of income without having to SELL us anything. I assume in the near future we will not OWN anything. Everything will only work on a subscription basis. The last furnace installers that came out now wanted me to pay a monthly fee to them, my previous furnace was 29+ years old with never a checkup. HP wants you to subscribe to their ink service and if you stop paying your printer ceases to work. We will soon have to pay a monthly fee for every appliance, vehicle, tool, maybe even our house. Companies are starting to build software into every product in order to make it not function without paying them an ongoing ransom.

This cam does not work with CPL. I'm sticking with my older cams for now.

The following cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite:

Wyze Cam v1, v2 and v3
Wyze Cam Pan v1 and v2
Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 and v2
I almost assumed all V3 cams would support CPL, bummer that Pan V3 isn't on the list.

You would need to find a v3 (non-pan) or earlier camera. Nothing released after approx Jan 2023 supports the free cam plus lite.

How many wyzecams are there then with v non pan or earlier? Yes I want to use the free cam plus site. So the ones after the v3 require a subscription? Otherwise, it's only live viewing? What about if you get an sd? It's just that you won't get any alerts without subscription?

this is a good camera. The only thing I don't like is if it's focusing on one person or vehicle and another one drives by it pans to that one and you lose sight of the first one I have a couple of wyze cameras, I put an SD card in there and don't use the subscription service and I have 24 seven recording
