Your opinion is not fact. You said there is no parts for this car. That is undeniably, certifiably, objectively wrong on all levels. I've had this car for 2 years and I've only had to replace a shock once which i got from Amazon btw. It might not fit your definition or level of support but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I gave this car to my son because I have too many for myself and it beats having to buy another car when I can just pass it down.

Also, not all of us have 350-400 dollars to spend on a single RC cars especially folks just getting into the hobby.

This kind of gate keeping and elitist attitude is one of the worst things about this RC community.

Have a good day. I will no longer be engaging in this conversation.

Same era for me. I had a losi xxxnt and and some HPI stuff. Recently got my first modern RC stadium truck through a Slickdeals post and it's absolutely mind blowing what you get for under $100 now. The performance and reliability compared to what we had back then is just incomprehensible.

90's RC guy here common brands were Tamiya, Kyosho, Yokomo, Mugen Seiki, Team Associated, Reedy, Novak…

At $99 for a setup like this, it's a steal even at $167.

I'm happy that more people can enjoy this hobby.

This looks like a great deal however talking with amain it looks like there is no replacement battery available. You might be able to wire something up but nothing out of the box.

It depends on the connector type whether or not Amazon would have it.

The way around that is snipping off whatever comes with this and soldering on a different connector. Pick what can handle 45 amps or more like EC3, XT60, Deans/T or Traxxas.

From experience, that li-ion pack won't have a lot of punch. It'll work for a first pack. The plus is that it's a bit safer than a lipo pack and charging it is simple.

If I didn't have enough RC stuff I'd be tempted.

Any different recommendations that is better out of box for novice / teenagers?

Free shipping for orders $100+. Otherwise it was $14 shipping for me. So I added something else to make it above $100 and got free shipping.

Do you mind telling us what you got to get it over $100?

Nevermind. I found some little arcade games that my kid will enjoy.

I'd like to get into the hobby and eventually tinker. Is this a good start to just get the feet wet to see if I want to invest further?
