There is a video on Lowe's website and in the video it says it's made in USA. WTF.
Klein has other ones made in USA, but I have this set and it says made in South Korea on the packaging

I would just end up losing the 10mm and then the rest of them would go unused.

Are these impact rated or just painted black?
Say you don't use tools without saying you don't use tools.

Should I get metric or sae for home use?
Don't listen to anyone that pushes one over the other "because it's the future". You can lean towards one if you're buying hardware that doesn't need an oem part but most people are probably going to need both. You get sae or metric based on what you're going to use it on and manufacturers aren't always consistent on using sae or metric based on country of origin. Some manufacturers might even use sae and metric on the same part.

I'm sure there's a better chart out there but what metric and sae can be used "interchangeably" may help you make your decision.

For home sae for European and Japanese cars metrics...
Almost every car now, even domestic USA vehicles. Ford is almost 100% metric. GM newer cars are metric except for drain bolt on some cars. Everything is moving metric since cars are more global.

For me it is missing the 16mm which I lost in my Craftsman set. This set is missing the 16mm. You cannot buy USA made Craftsman anymore. Lowes only sells Craps-man made in China and not even near the same durability even for a weekend warrior.

I recently murdered a 13mm ratcheting gear wrench by holding the top side of a bolt and then impacting the nut on the bottom. I knew it was a bad idea, but i was frustrated and didn't want to go back to the shop for a proper box end.

Much like life, Stupidity finds a way.

I have one of those huge 200 piece Kobalt mechanics sets and use maybe 10% of the tools it has, but I've never really taken note of which tools I actually use. I've been wanting to downsize and ditch the huge box. Do you think getting these sets (both Metric and SAE) would be good enough to cover most of what I'd need? Weekend warrior stuff and some basic dirtbike maintenance.

I like Klein Tools even though I have no interest in doing electrical work. Picked up the metric set because these will be used more on cars/trucks than the house.

US made cars manufacturers went metric decades ago. At this point, IDK who uses SAE anymore, except playground manufacturers, roofers and half of the HVAC techs.

Can someone please let me know why should I pay $40 for this, when HF has a set of 4 doubled up for $30?

I generally stay away from HF tools with moving parts if I'm going to use them more than a few times. But if you are pleased with the quality of the HF set and it meets your other requirements and you feel it a better value, then we probably can't.
