Apparently B&H doesn't accept returns on laptops. Almost pulled the trigger but no return policy kills it.

I actually prefer LCD as they are a lot easier on the eyes. Most OLED panels use PWM flickering for dimming, which leads to eye strain/fatigue.

OLED panels also usually use a lot more power than LCD, which will lead to lower battery life.

Another thing in LCDs favor is the regular subpixel arrangement that results in sharper text compared to the non standard subpixel arrangements in most OLED panels.

I'd take a high quality LCD panel (400+ nits, 100% sRGB) over an OLED panel, especially in laptops. I have owned multiple OLED laptops (I think at least 5), and they all gave me eye strain, and some had terrible text quality. OLED panels do have amazing contrast and color reproduction, but high quality LCD panels are surprisingly good. Just look at the panels that MacBooks use. Even Mini LED is still technically LCD.

I don't agree with the assessment of OLED vs LCD. I have used MSFT Surface devices with excellent LCDs and recently bought a HP Pavilion plus with an OLED display and the screen is a significant improvement over the LCDs I used before. I don't see any flickering issues and while OLEDs might consume more power, battery life of my HP is comparable to my Surface Laptop thanks to a slightly bigger battery and the more efficient AMD processor vs Intel. There are good displays in both camps but to me, OLED is the better option. My current iphone OLED is better than any previous LCD iphone I had and the OLED on my HP Pavilion plus beats any LCD I have used so far.

I paid $50 more at Lenovo for a i5 with 1 TB SSD. Very good laptop. Only one complaint I have is the location of the power button, which is on the right edge, whenever I lift the laptop, palm touches the power button and laptop goes to sleep mode.

Yep, I have a Yoga 2 Pro with power button in same location and accidental presses are annoying. They need to put the button up top IMO...

I find Intel laptops run hot and have poor battery life, AMD is usually lower energy and better battery - thoughts?

I had a laptop with 12th gen i5 (i5-1240p) and that was a thermal nightmare. If I join a video call, the laptop thermal throttles so badly that I can barely do anything else. I got rid of it as soon as possible. I have only had AMD machines since then, and the fans are much quieter -- most of the time I can't hear it spinning.

In fact, for the i7-1260p CPU that is more or less the predecessor of this one (i7-1360p), there are reports that i5 actually runs faster:

Considering that 13th gen is a small update over 12th gen, I would expect this to have similar performance.

sounds like a personal issue. not everyone suffers from eye strain from OLED.

They couldn't spend the extra ten bucks on 32 go ram?

These would fly off the shelves for power workers

Lol, yeah that's a great business model for the company. Let's price all of the laptop upgrades at cost. No wonder why no one buys Apple laptops.

Does anyone know if this folds back on itself into a tablet form? Tried looking around but couldn't tell definitively.

Yea they are notorious about not accepting returns. I have a 8gb macmini which is super slow for my purposes. Tried returning with original packaging but they wouldn't take a return if even the plastic cover on box is taken off. Their policy page is misleading. In the fine print, they state no returns for refunds if opened. How would you know without opening whether the product is for you. Since then I haven't bought a single product from them.
