This is an awesome lens but a bit heavy when you want to pair with mirrorless. Bought it for the same price during Thanksgiving 2021

Matches the lowest price it has been since before the coronavirus. One of the most desirable EF-S lenses (but I haven't been up to speed on Canon gear in several years).

For the record, you could get it for $450 refurbished from Canon back in March. That was probably the deal of the decade. They rarely go on sale (while also being in stock).

In an old double coupon deal it was $380, maybe in 2020. Since then, prices are up; availability is down in the refurb store; and the cameras I would open my wallet for are overpriced and never on sale (90d, R7, M6 mk II, and anything with IBIS.) The 17-55mm is a decent enough lens but $600 for an 18 year old design on an obsolete mount is just too much. Both the Sigma and Tamron 17-50mm are decent for stills and can be found used for <$200.
